ISLAMABAD - A Pakistani man shot dead his teenage niece because she was listening to loud music, police said on Tuesday.
Muhammad Gullistan, 30, found his niece alone at her home on Sunday in Chakwal, 90 km (56 miles) southeast of the capital, Islamabad.
"Muhammad Gullistan visited the house while her family was away," police officer Qaisar Abbas told Reuters. "He asked her to turn the music down but she refused and they had an argument. He shot her with a 33-bore pistol."
Women are murdered every day in Pakistan for perceived slights against conservative social traditions. The crimes are so common, they rarely rate more than a paragraph in newspapers.
According to Pakistani law, a woman's next of kin can forgive her murderers. Since Pakistani women are often killed by their close relations, the loophole allows thousands of murderers to escape without punishment.
In 2013, 869 cases of so-called "honour killings" were reported in the media, according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. The true figure is probably higher since many cases go unreported.

So, another dead Muslim. How's that a bad thing?

Even got her before breeding age. Call it a twofer. Or a sixfer.
He didn't take our 5 lawyers with the rest of the clip, that is a bit sad.
How can you grow up in the land of hash and heroin and not enjoy music. Granted he may have liked flutes better than Metallica's Sandman. As it is I don't have to go very far to find an article that is just as insane and the address is a lot closer to home. The whole world goes nuts at the same time?? I'm thinking somebody is pushing this merry go round.

I think he needs some anger management classes... just say'in. (or ear plugs)
Suicide via two to the back of the head.

the stereo has more value.
You're actually a little scary when you're being brutally honest. I mean that in the kindest of ways.

As a social experiment it is interesting, How do we tell them to enter full revolt because of such instances when, on home ground, we want the rule of law to be the only voice heard, as in grand jury decisions should not get any attention (bad) from the public as that is what terrorists do.

Well I would venture to guess in a culture where women are routinely murdered for even the most "perceived slight", the stereo has more value.

Which shows how pathetic it is over there.
