canucks played an excellent game, actually both teams wouldn't allow much room for the other, but as
the game went on, canucks gradually took over, and controlled the rest of the game.

and so exciting for hanson, a hat trick for him, he has been playing good hockey of late, that whole
line is playing well, And horvat is very good on the faceoffs, they needed that for sure.

daniel sedin night, seemed to bring up that old hatred for duncan keith, he sure got bood all night
whenever he touched the puck.

hawks are a very good team, but canucks showed them tonight that they can be better.

Yeah, It was certainly all Canucks in the third. I think Edmonton probably tuckered the Hawks out last night.

I'm glad Hansen got his first hat trick.....he deserved it. I' also been impressed with Horvat. He won most of his face offs and he had three assists. He is a big, strong, smart, kid and he is going to be an important player for the Canucks..

for sure, he knows the defensive side of the game so well for a young player, he's very responsible,
and strong, and his goals will gradually start coming.
that line was the best tonight, and as 'willie desjardin' said on the radio, he tells players not to
try to get 'up' to another line, play your line as though it is the number one line, and tonight
the horvat line was the best, and the whole team played well.

yes, i thought canucks had the fresher legs in the third period.

it is sad to know of the passing of 'pat quinn', he will be missed by many, and i'm sure the canucks

will have quite a tribute to him tomorrow before the game. he was only 71

Just reading about this, talloola. I will always remember him as the coach who finally ended Team Canada's 50-year Gold Medal drought at the Salt Lake City Olympics. Sad to hear he died so young.

yeah, he was a 'bigger than life' kind of guy, guess no one is really bigger than life, R I P.

he was immediately noticed when he walked into a room, had a voice to go with the stature, and

the 'ole boy' kind of personality, full of hockey stories at the drop of the hat.

heard cliff ronning on the phone this morning, he talked a bit, then cried, it was very emotional.

trevor linden will have very good things to say about quinn, he was very connected to him, as were

many of the older retired players and many others connected to the canucks, and also the giants team

as well.

Isles win! Great shut out victory over Philly 1-0 in OT shootout.

The game was intense and it reminded the announcers of the old 1970s-80s rivalry that the teams had. They brought up several names and included a clip from the OT win with Bobby Nystrom's last minute goal. What a time that was for NHL hockey!

i'm a big islander fan, followed tavares right out of junior, and he didn't miss a step, great player.

the team has slowly improved, i like the way they handled pittsburg in last two games, good for them.

yes, i like them to beat the bruins too, but those islanders have been beaten down for so long, i just
feel good to see them begin to make some noise, and beat the better teams, not wanting to bash the pens,
just wanting to lift those islanders, they are comin.
guess its the underdog thing, i feel the same about the jets, and my heart aches for the oilers, i so
wish for them to win games.

New Jersey Devils vs. Vancouver CanucksDEVILS (9-9-3) at CANUCKS (14-6-1)

TV: MSG+, SNP

Season series: This is the first of two games between the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks this season. The Canucks won both games against the Devils in 2013-14, a 3-2 overtime win on Oct. 8 and a 3-2 shootout win on Oct. 24. Henrik and Daniel Sedin each had three points in two games.

Devils team scope: Despite trailing the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders atop the Metropolitan Division, the Devils are one point out of third place. But New Jersey did itself no favors against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, losing 5-4 in a shootout after having three separate two-goal leads and giving up the game-tying goal with five seconds remaining in regulation. The Devils are 1-1-1 on their road trip to Western Canada, with the final stop being Vancouver. Goalie Cory Schneider will be back in net on Tuesday to face his old teammates after getting his first night off of the season against the Flames. Coach Peter DeBoer may also make a change on the blue line. Defenseman Eric Gelinas said he expects to be taken out Tuesday in favor of Peter Harrold, who skated with Marek Zidlicky in practice on Monday, though DeBoer told the media he would "sleep on it."

Canucks team scope: Tuesday will be the first time Vancouver plays since the passing of Pat Quinn, a significant figure in Canucks history as the architect of their 1994 Western Conference championship team, which he both coached and built as president and general manager. "[Quinn] was responsible for bringing hockey to the forefront in Vancouver," Canucks president Trevor Linden said. "He brought the pride back to the Canucks and today his finger prints and impact are still felt within this organization." The Canucks will be playing their last game at home before embarking on a seven-game road trip that could prove pivotal as they fight for first place in the Pacific Division. Vancouver has won 10 of its plast 14 games and could get forward Alexandre Burrows back Tuesday. Burrows, who has missed two games with an upper-body injury, practiced Monday. Defenseman Dan Hamhuis (lower body) did not practice.

I guess in theory since they trounced the Blackhawks they should be able to thrash N.J. BUT different team, different day and very likely different mood since Quinn's demise.

absolutely, one can never assume anything because of what just happened, don't forget the hawks were on
the back end of a back to back, and did look a bit fatigued in the last period, had they not been in
that position, game could have been much different. it is a human situation, not computers or machines,
so no one can know just how all of those humans on the ice are going to react to each other on any given
night, and that includes both teams, not just the canucks.

and nothing has anything to do with the standings, that is also a false assumption, when fans figure
because one team is in first place and the other in 8th place, that the higher placed team should
automatically win, not so, they are 'all' good players playing in the best league in the world, none
of them are poor, it is just circumstances, and some better individuals playing better at times, injuries,
goalkeeping sometimes being sharp and other times not, definitely coaching, as we witnessed last year,
and they can drag a team down, or lift them up, as we see this year.

Yep how many games have been won/lost because of good/bad luck. A puck that should have went in the net went off the post?

We have a real quandary on our hands now Talloola. Ducks vs. Flames tonight! Who do you hope will win?

flames

good win for canucks, typical schneider game, he is stingy, i remember when he was a canuck, he would keep
the team in the game, all thru the game, he plays such excellent positional goalkeeping, and is very hard
to get a puck by.

canucks persevered, and got the win,now we won't see them at home for 14 days, doesn'tmake any difference
to me, i will see all of their games on tv,so doesn't matter where they are.

Well, you rooted for the wrong team. Thought you'd know better!:)
I think if they can take 4 of the next 7 they'll be OK. Detroit, Ottawa and the Habs might be tough.

i will always cheer for the flames over anaheim, i don't care what the standings are, i mean if it was
the end of the season And the canucks had to get past the flames, they were only 2 points different,
or miss the playoffs, then i would switch, but only then.
i like the flames, they have a nice team this year.
