Pitt > Rangers 3-2 in shoot out

Doggone it! Thought Rangers had won but the replay showed that a shoot out goal was illegal and Pitt won in the next round.

Another loss for the Broadway Blues - nothing new here, sad to say.

Argh!!

i have nhl center ice package, And the ranger/pitts game was not on it tonight, also argh!!!!!!

the montreal/philly game was a good one though, now i'm watching calgary/ottawa, but i'm all hockied
out for the night, just glancing at it now and then.

I see those Sharks aren't looking all that Sharky this season!

yeah, they had quite a shake up in the offseason, took the C Away from thornton, and all alternates
were taken away, they started over, apparantly had problems in the dressing room, but the coach
remained on, but the way they are playing i wonder how long his time with the sharks is Alive.

many very good players on the team, but they are not having success, another surprise this season.
i know they were knocked out of the playoffs by l.a. after winning 3 gAmes straight, then they lost
4 straight, to end their season, seems they all went into shock, but theydid have a good season
last year.

I watched on cricfree.sx

It had several NHL games on at one time. During the first period rest of the Rangers game, I watched Don Cherry on one of the channels. Now I realize that not everybody likes him, but I do. The jacked he was wearing tonight was as WILD as ever!

What a character!

yes, i've seen him on hockey night in canada since i was very young, i don't like him on that show, but
when one hears him being interviewed in other situations he sounds quite normal, that is just his show
personality, and i tired of it long ago, and his jackets, lol, but he is a good guy.

where on earth do all of those horrid jackets go when they are no longer wanted by him.
haven't noticed any of them walking down the street, on anyone else, who in their right
mind would be caught dead in one of those things.

"Caught dead" is putting it mildly.............I wouldn't be caught shot to death in a sh*thouse wearing one. I suppose there are lots of people like him and I suppose they could become a collectors item!

maybe they auction them off for a charity of some sort, cause he is a good person in real life, and he
thinks of others, and helps others.
i just wish they would deep six his show, but there are thousands of people living in the sticks of
canada, who think he is wonderful, so i guess there is something for everyone.

Well, you folks gotta to remember that even though I live in Gopherland, I am originally from Brooklyn where many of us are naturally drawn to the bizarre. Therefore, Don Cherry would be considered quite the norm in those parts. ;)

Tonight, it was back to watching yet another Original Six match as Montreal > Detroit 4-1.

Mickey Redmond was one of the announcers and he spoke briefly about his rookie days when he and Gump Worsley were room mates. He said something we all know - that Gumper was quite a character and that his one year with him was one he will not forget. Ah, Gumper - Sad that they just don't make them like they used to.

I beg to differ. It is obvious from his wardrobe that he knows nothing about suits. I've seen no evidence that he knows a lot about dogs and I can't think of any team that would hire him as coach......or would have hiired him as coach in the last twenty years. Don Cherry is a Canadian, I'll give him that....

Meet the Man Who Dresses Don Cherry | culture | Torontoist

When Don Cherry pops up on Hockey Night in Canada a few weeks from now looking like he skinned a sofa, you may wonder how you, too, can achieve the just-upholstered look. There’s seemingly no satin too shiny, no flower too Hawaiian, no plaid too Nardwuar for the coach’s closet. And his Wall Street-meets-Amadeus aesthetic isn’t just pulled off the rack. As Cherry recently advertised in a series of tweets, each of his suits is custom made through a North Toronto a store called The Coop, where he’s been shopping for years.

Cherry’s jackets may be the one thing louder than his mouth, but John Corallo, owner of The Coop, has a no-big-deal attitude about their sartorial collaboration. While tidying up a pile of not-very-Cherry grey suit pieces, he explains that he met the sportscaster several years ago through a client who works for Quiznos, back in the days when Cherry was plugging their subs.

“Don was looking for a tailor at the same time because his tailor passed away,” Corallo explains, “So we made him a suit, and we got to know him, and he’s been shopping with us ever since. It’s been fun.”

Corallo estimates The Coop has made between 80 and 85 suits for Cherry so far. The process doesn’t exactly evoke GQ steeliness: Cherry selects his own material from Fabricland and brings it to The Coop, where they discuss it, style it, and send it to a bespoke factory for tailoring. Corallo was pretty secretive about the insider tricks they use to get the look and shape just right, but emphasized that making a Don Cherry suit requires more thought than just stitching together some stripes.

“A normal guy would take two-and-a-quarter, two-and-a-half yards. Don’s up to four-and-a-half to five yards. Just so we can line up all the lightning bolts with lightnings, the flowers with the flowers. So it looks like it’s something.”

The “normal guy” in this equation probably wears outfits that are a little more subdued. While there’s the odd paisley shirt poking out from the racks of cobalt jackets, The Coop’s look is more about discreet checks and dark denims than splish-splash florals. (Corallo has owned the business, which is entering its 30th year, since 2001, and moved it to its current three-storey location in 2011.) Inventory runs the gamut of menswear, from jeans to ready-to-wear suits to custom fare—though the bespoke process, at prices starting over two thousand dollars, is for a special type of shopper. While The Coop gets a lot of calls about bespoke, Corallo says 99 per cent of their customers can be fitted off the rack.

“There are so many garments out there. That one per cent of the marketplace I believe strongly wants the feel and the allure of a custom-made garment. They want to pick their fabric, they want to style it, they wan to get involved and be the guy wearing a suit expressly tailored for them.”

In Cherry’s case, this allure isn’t so much about conveying luxury as projecting a distinctive kind of loudmouth accessibility. When discussing his favourite Cherry originals, Corallo brings up a recent promotional suit they made for Budweiser Red Lights beer. For the first time, The Coop not only made the suit, but also the fabric: they silk-screened the Red Lights logo onto a bolt of white material, and used it to create a beer-themed jacket that Cherry wore during the NHL playoffs last May. It’s a look that’s meant to speak to the average Bud drinker—via high-end tailoring.

Other favourites include what Corallo calls the “Austin Powers suit,” though he still loves most of the looks they’ve created throughout their professional relationship. “They’re equally as crazy as one another,” he says, “They’re definitely unique.”

Cherry may be one of our most aggressive national icons—both visually and aurally—but Corallo only has warm words for his most fluorescent client. “Everybody’s normal when they walk through the door,” he says, “Unless you’re a movie star, I guess. I might be in awe, because I don’t have any movie stars. And I’ve been told I look like Brad Pitt.”

What a character!

in an interview, away from his show a few years ago, he said that one day when he and someone else, whom i
forget, were walking down the street, he suddently stopped outside of a drapery fabric store, saw some
fabric he liked, went in, ordered enough for another jacket, and away he went to his favourite taylor.

now gopher, be kind to your rangers tonight, they are up against a very good
team, with a huge goalie who is like a 4x8 sheet of plywood up against the goal,
so if the rangers can give them a good battle, or even win, they will be doing their
job, tampa bay is possibly the conference winner for the east this year, nope
i'm not predicting, i don't do that, but they are very good, maybe tonight they
will play a stinker, it happens, canucks played one the other night, i can still
smell the stench. lol

Jeepers - the Rangers wimped out in a 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay.

Callahan came back to haunt them with 2 goals and good puck control. Shut out win for goalie Ben Bishop in what was a totally dominant match.

yeah, i watched most of it, tampa is just a better team, and rangers tried, but don't have the horses
to match tampa, but they aren't alone in that situation, others will fall to them as well.

A lot of weird scores tonight! Is there a full moon somewhere?:)

definitely in toronto, lol,

i watched the anaheim/calgary game, i must say, calgary has a very
nice team this season, i like the way they play, nice to see them beat anaheim.

islanders have a nice team too, beat that tough tampa bay team.

if san jose doesn't pull up their boots soon, i think something down there will blow.

pittsburgh is good this year too, and montreal has stumbled a bit of late.

detroit starting to look like their ole selves, babcock has them going good.

carolina started the season very badly, but of late have been playing decent hockey.

looks like l.a. is going to defeat florida.

hope they give the canucks a shot of something tomorrow, seams like they have been on
xmas break, its been so long.,
