i will always cheer for the flames over anaheim, i don't care what the standings are, i mean if it was
the end of the season And the canucks had to get past the flames, they were only 2 points different,
or miss the playoffs, then i would switch, but only then.
i like the flames, they have a nice team this year.

I hear you, it's just kind of a "hangover" thing from bygone days. I would almost invariably cheer for a Canadian based team.

How come? Are they worse than Boston?:)

i don't know if they are worse, i don't think about boston much, but i hate their uniforms, always have, anaheim is in our division and conference,
we see them a lot, i'm not a fan.

i'm not hung up on boston, forgot that 2011 stuff long time ago.

i'm not crazy about pittsburgh, but choose them over boston when they are playing each other.

i don't really pick a favourite till two teams are playing each other, then it just comes to me,
and i go with that. i can't really explain sometimes why i pick certain teams, no real reason i just listen to my thoughts and go with that, i will always cheer for boston over toronto, i'l cheer for any team over
toronto.

as teams become very strong over a long period of time, i will pick their opponant to win, just an underdog
thing.

but i've never done that with detroit, i love detroit red wings, always have, great organization, i like
ken holland the gm, i like babcock, best coach in the nhl in my opinion, and i like the style they play.
i still feel detroit is a western conference team, even though they aren't.

I hear you, not much rhyme nor reason for any of it, just a feeling. After Canucks I guess Montreal would be my second choice. My dislike of Calgary goes back a long way. Probably something to do with Al McInnis, excellent defenseman for sure but his ego got on my nerves, same thing with Brat Hull and Lindross. My third choice might be Edmonton.

you sure live way in the past, do you know any of the players who play on those teams today that you
could get to know, and forget those players from 100 years ago.

You might have a point there, come to think of it! What do they say? "Old habits die hard"! (My memory of things long past is pretty good, just don't ask me about yesterday):)

With my brain, Talloola, if I deleted any part of it, the whole thing would apt to go missing! Have a great day, I'm off to the casino!

Canucks start trip against struggling Blue JacketsThursday, 11.27.2014 / 6:24 PMDavid Satriano - NHL.com Staff WriterPrintE-mailShare with your FriendsTo:

Vancouver Canucks vs. Columbus Blue JacketsCANUCKS (15-6-1) AT BLUE JACKETS (6-13-2)

TV: SNP, FS-O

Season series: The Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets split two games last season with each team winning at home.

Canucks team scope: Following a 2-0 win against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday at Rogers Arena, Vancouver begins a season-high seven-game, 12-day road trip. The Canucks are 8-3-0 on the road having won five of their past six. "It's going to be a tough trip," coach Willie Desjardins told the Canucks website after the game Tuesday. "Every game is a game that's going to be a battle and we have to make sure that we have energy every night." Forward Jannik Hansen has five goals in his past four games. Forward Radim Vrbata had a three-game goal-scoring streak snapped Tuesday. Left wing Tim Sestito (leg) and defenseman Dan Hamhuis (lower body) are injured.

Blue Jackets team scope: Columbus lost to the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 on Tuesday, its fourth straight. The Blue Jackets have lost 13 of their past 15 games including six of seven at Nationwide Arena. Forward Nick Foligno has 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 11 games. The Blue Jackets are connecting on 23.2 percent of their power-play opportunities but have scored on two of their past 13. Forward Brandon Dubinsky, who hasn't played this season because of an abdominal injury, skated at practice Wednesday, though a return date is unknown. "Today is the best I've felt. These last few days, I’ve started to turn the corner. I felt pretty good today," Dubinsky told The Columbus Dispatch. The Blue Jackets are without forward Mark Letestu (groin) and defensemen Ryan Murray (knee), Cody Goloubef (knee) and Fedor Tyutin (lower body).

Great to see Martin St Louis get his 1,000 career point as Rangers > Philly 3-0.

Nice segment on St Louis and his young kids who are now playing little league puck.

Also enjoyed the retrospective on the 1974 series between the Broad Street Bullies and the Broadway Blues. Unfortunately, the Rangers and all their finesse were not quite up to the task of defeating the power laden Bullies. Emile the Cat Francis made the team even weaker by sending away a couple of tough guys and the team's fortunes went downhill after that. Luckily, Montreal and the Islanders saw Francis's mistake and stacked their lineup with hard hitters. This is how their dynasties flourished.

Well, that's one out of 7 in the bag, Talloola! It could be the easiest of the 7 but it might instill a little confidence. I'm sure Detroit will be a formidable foe on Sunday!

Canucks are at the top of the league right now, Columbus is right at the bottom. I would say tonight's game bears that out. Those "Sedin Sisters" aren't doing too badly playing in their 15th season. :)

it took a long time to score that first goal, then i had to go out during the second intermission, got
home and asked how the game went, wow, they had fun in the last period.

yeah, detroit is a chore, but not unbeatable, canucks better than average defense will come in handy
in that game, too bad they are without hamhuis.

Rangers 5-2 > Philly

Derek Brassard with 2 g's over a very determined Ray Emery & the Flyers who started out the game with lots of hard hits and good puck passing. Two wins in a row in this home-and-home series sure are a good Holiday gift for Broadway Blues fans.

Now, if only they could do this well vs Tampa Bay ....

yeah, excellent home and home for them, i was out, missed the game today. well, as the season goes on
maybe vineault will ramp them up a bit for those tampa bay guys, and maybe the g.m. can make a
deal by the trade deadline to strengthen them a bit more.
sometimes those teams who come out of the gate at high speed, falter a bit in the homestretch, so that
could be the case, and the rangers can do the opposite.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Detroit Red WingsCANUCKS (16-6-1) AT RED WINGS (13-5-5)

TV: TVA, CITY, FS-D

Season series: The Detroit Red Wings won both games against the Vancouver Canucks last season and hold a 4-0-1 record in the past five. Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg has three goals and three assists. Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard allowed one goal in the two games.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver goalie Ryan Miller has won three straight, including back-to-back shutouts. Miller has stopped 75 of the past 76 shots he has faced, and has a .914 save percentage. "I'm feeling better about some positioning and stuff," Miller said, according to the Vancouver Province. "I feel all right. I feel like I'm still trying to build the right kind of game to play with this team." Coach Willie Desjardins isn't pleased with their play as a whole. "It hasn’t been the team that has played well," he said after practice Saturday, according to the Vancouver Sun. "Our goaltender has played well. We have to get playing better."

Red Wings team scope: Detroit has averaged 3.5 goals in their past 10 games. After scoring five goals in their first 46 man-advantages (10.9 percent), the Red Wings have scored 15 power-play goals in their past 47 chances (31.9 percent). Detroit, which might reunite Zetterberg with forward Pavel Datsyuk on the top line, could have defenseman Brendan Smith (hand infection), who was cleared to return Saturday. If Smith returns, rookie defenseman Xavier Ouellet will return to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Howard will start for Detroit, which has won three straight games.

Good to see Canuck's goal differential is much improved!

2 - 0 for Detroit at the end of the first. Detroit is putting on a bit of a clinic in puck control. Maybe the coach will talk to the Canucks during the break.

i am going to find that call against burrows again somewhere, cause i thought he did not touch the
goalie at all, but the detroit player ran into howard and knocked his helmet back, anyone else
see it that way or?

our top line has to step up, the twins lack of skating definitely shows up in this game, they must do
more, i thought they looked a bit better last 5 minutes of first period, so we'll see how the second
goes. as great as they are, their game disappears if they can't keep up with the skating, and
detroit are skating so well, we must match that.
