ya see... China can't keep on, as many claim, "doing nuthin" (aka Business-As-Usual (BAU)), and reach the peak pledge level (cutting its net carbon pollution between 2015 and 2030 by about 20 billion tons.)... notwithstanding as a part of the U.S.-China deal, China has pledged to increase the share of energy consumed from non-emissions sources like renewables, nuclear energy and hydro-electricity to 20 percent by 2030

in reality, on it's current trajectory, it is the U.S. pledge that will require the U.S. to do, relatively speaking, NOT MUCH MORE than maintain it's current BAU interests... to date, U.S. emissions are already 10–15% below 2005 levels (which aligns with the prior 2009 pledge Obama made to reach a 17% reduction by 2020... the same pledge Harper made but refused to even address). To date, U.S. emissions are falling by about 1.5% per year... for the U.S. to reach the pledged target of 26–28% emissions cuts below 2005 levels by 2025, the U.S. will only be required to continue its current ongoing rate of yearly emission reductions.

I was in China for the last two weeks and discussed this agreement with a number of Chinese citizens. China won't comply with the agreement except to the extent the Chinese Communist Party thinks compliance serves its interests.

Of course. However they NEED to believe that China will abide.

If the crisis were sulpher would consumers still blame themselves'?

Of course not... it would not be a big deal either.

But the target is Western Industries/Economies and there is BIG MONEY to be made sacking them.

If you could create a way to blame consumers and have them pay for something industry should be paying for would you?

I love the part where he opines that China is 'cutting' their emissions by 20 billion tons... Talk about seeing the glass is 1/2 full... China has suggested, in a non-binding manner, that they will peak their emissions by 2030.

Once 2030 comes and goes, then they will think about not increasing it further.

It's OK though, they did shake hands on it after all... I just pray that the Chinese representative didn't have his fingers crossed behind his back when shaking hands - deal doesn't count then

China has pledged! ROFL

what do you base your skepticism on? Why would China set itself up for world criticism by setting a target and failing to meet it? Surely you recognize that through the past decade China has dramatically moved forward in striking negotiated relationships with an assortment of countries. And again, for self-preservation if nothing else, the significant level of air pollution in the largest Chinese cities is forcing China to act to reduce it's related emissions.

Because China does not give a flying fuk what insignificant little pissants like you think. Especially when the date for maybe thinking about not creating any more pollution is well over a decade in the future. Meanwhile you will faithfully by cheap junk made in CHina while complaining about the little bit of pollution we make. They got you pegged.

"insignificant little pissants like you"... any partiular reason you're unable to converse without insulting? As for the rest of your post try reading the following as posted earlier:

Self Preservation... you're killing me Waldo!

China will do for China and no one else. That's why they get the developing nation status and nobody screws with them. They could give two bleeps what you or any other nation thinks of them.

Why does a world super power get a developing nation status? Because they could give a sh*t what any greenie group or UN Commision says.

"China isn't going to give us a dime... they're a dead end... lets work on the West... they are the suckers and will give us money."

you're not adding anything new here. I asked you what your skepticism was based on... you didn't answer. I asked you why China would set itself up for failure, for world criticism... you didn't answer. And yes, China is actively working to manage it's incredible industrialization pace in the face of the worst air pollution not seen since the 70s in the U.S.. China's major cities are choking in air pollution... the self-preservation reference I made was in that regard... it's forced to clean up and reduce it's emissions.
