climate deal with china...

The way the deal is structured, China is given a bit more freedom to develop its economy but it's in their best interest to move to renewables quickly if they want to compete with Western markets.

Renewables?... Oil is cheap these days and coal even cheaper.

Just think, as the Western economies are brow-beat into 'renewables', they all (especially Canada and the USA) will be selling boatload after boatload of coal to India and China at bargain basement rates.

So much for your dream that the World's 2 largest emitters will ever toe the line in your fantasy world

That's the ticket. China is given a pass once again with the notion that they will NEED to start using renewable energy sources to compete with the West. How funny is that! China is pummeling the West as it is. Alarmists are such idiots.

I thought human caused Global Warming was such an immediate (time is of the essence) threat that it had to be addressed with fierce urgency. If that is true then why does China get a pass on addressing its own produced carbon emissions? Doesn't that seem like a terrible inconsistency? By the time China starts to address carbon emissions it will be too late to save the Earth. Oh by the way, China isn't going to comply with the agreement unless the Chinese Communists think it's in their interests to do so.
