What were the gains in ON? It's hard for AB and SK because they are technically at full employment as it is. SK 3.2%, AB 4.5%

Going at scale for ON to be like SK there would have to be 125,000 open jobs along with the 3.2% unemployment.

How else can I contrast a failed policy with the reality.

Oil is a very unstable industry that will eventually die.

That much has already been shown.

What failed policy? The one of letting working people keep some of their paycheque to spend as they see fit instead of taxing it all away? Or the one of cutting freeloaders off government assistance? Or the one of pushing to get Alberta oil to market?

Sooner or later we might all be "call Canada", but there won't be anyone to call. Can we afford to work as cheaply as "call India"?

Sorta why I'm anti-NAFTA.

Look you wanna have FREE Trade with the US marketplace join the dam country. Otherwise, fair trade and NO Free Trade.

ONE EXAMPLE: Domtar & CIL in Cornwall, Ontario took 600 jobs that were upper middle class playing jobs.. $32 to $45 hr jobs..

What was left was a WalMart distribution center and Call Centers.. $8 to $12 hr jobs.

It's a joke how Canadians are allowing these mega-Corporations to kill off the Middle Class, and basically gut manufacturing jobs to move to the USA, Mexico and China.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada unexpectedly added 43,100 new jobs in October and the unemployment rate dropped to a near six-year low of 6.5 percent, prompting market optimism that the sluggish job market might finally be improving.

Analysts had expected a loss of 5,000 jobs after the outsized gain of 74,100 positions in September.

The jobless rate - down from 6.8 percent in September - was the lowest since the 6.4 percent recorded in November 2008, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

"This is the second strong release we've had in a row, and the details are quite strong as well, so I think that the shift in the labor market is very encouraging," said Camilla Sutton, chief currency strategist at Scotiabank.

"All in all it would suggest that the Canadian economic fundamental situation is a bit better than had been priced in."

Except that there is no evidence that Harper's policy is affecting the economy either way.

That's the point.

Well, except for some carefully placed stimulus.

Care to define a living wage? Real jobs are any that don't syphon money out of the taxpayer's pocket.

A few municipalities in BC have adopted living wage policies, which only applies to municipal workers and those doing contracted work for the municipality. It's variously set between $15-$18 an hour. Cost of living depends on the city.

I see that Ontario economy is gaining some momentum and the unemployment numbers are dropping.... Seems to me that slashing 100k public sector jobs was a real pick-me-up for the province.

Will you be sending a letter of praise to Harper on this tremendous accomplishment?
