Speak for yourself. That's not the way I raised my boys.
Good.
Way to go gerryh!

Hope you're home schooling. Cause....
The whole education system here in Canada is controlled by the feminist agenda.

The feminist movement was started by school teachers
And they always controled and influenced our kids.

Obviously, when you go on about a "feminist agenda". If your kids are being caught up in a "feminist agenda" then that is your fault and no one elses.

I give them directions and motivate them to do things that are good for themselves

I doubt that very much. Sounds to me like you allow others to give them direction and motivation.

Sure whatever you say old fa*rt :)

I really don't know what to answer to you gerryh. From your first comment, I had no idea what you where talking about. I felt like you may have been projecting yourself and your issues & life experiences. But I don't have your problems. So I can't relate or help you.

Like the article says. Most of us live in a self made imaginary world due to the benifites of being totally sheltered from any real harm this last 70 years. You strike me as a perfect example of that.

There it is....right there....

We CAN'T move past that.

There are always wolves at the door, and if you wish to maintain your liberty, your safety, and your way of life, or if you care about the lives of others, you must have both the ability and the mindset to defend them, both from enemies abroad (read ISIS at the moment) or at home (read any gov't, anywhere, any time)

The evolution of thought in both politics and philosophy has been a blood soaked adventure. So far we in the west have done as well or better than anyone else in history.........but as the article points out, evolution itself is a violent process. Nature selects those best able to cope by eliminating those that can not compete.

So we had best be able to cope.
There you go................"survival of the fittest" - that's what's going to endure in the end. These medical break throughs are just a "flash in the pan" methinks. 70 years ago penicillin was one of the greatest marvels in the realm of mankind, now it's virtually useless.

Not enough of a man to control your own family eh.

Is control the answer? I've found throughout my life, the only person you can control is yourself and it's really the only person you want to control.

This dipshyte is whining about the "teachers". I'm just pointing out that it is ultimately his responsibility for what his kids are taught and what they learn. If they are learning things that you don't agree with, then it is up to you to straighten that up. It is no one elses fault.

Then again, pussies like angstrom only know how to whine and complain.

Are women any worse at controlling than men? Traditionally I think ties have generally been stronger between the mother and the kids, while the fathers were away fighting wars and killing critters for the table.

Women are better equipped then men at controlling.

But that's not really a problem in my opinion.
The Lack of a simple common Hierarchy is a problem.
The lack of a simple common code of conduct.

Life is much easier when there's structure.
Right now, no one knows how they are supposed to behave.
Nothing proves that more than our kids behavior.
The natural hierarchy and code of conducts has been scrapped.

A huge imaginary hierarchy and code of conduct based on nothing
natural is in place. That's why kids are the way they are today.
Confused.

It's like colpy s article says. Vegetarian

History is strewn with the wrecks of nations which have gained a little progressiveness at the cost of a great deal of hard manliness, and have thus prepared themselves for destruction as soon as the movements of the world gave a chance for it.
Every great civilization reaches a point of prosperity where it is possible to live your entire life as a pacifist without any serious consequences. Many civilizations have come to the state of devolution represented by modern Berkeley folkways, from wife-swapping to vegetarianism. These ideas don’t come from a hardscrabble existence in contact with nature’s elemental forces; they are the inevitable consequence of being an effete urban twit removed from meaningful contact with reality. The over-civilized will try to portray their decadence as something “highly evolved” and worthy of emulation because it can only exist in the hothouse of highly civilized urban centers, much like influenza epidemics. Somehow these twittering blockheads missed out on what the word “evolution” means. Evolution involves brutal and often violent natural selection, and these people have not been exposed to brutal evolutionary forces any more than a typical urban poodle

Being prepared to defend yourself doesn't mean we need to raise children to be bullies or that violence creates strong civilizations. When this ideology had more currency and was widely applied, millions of people died and many more enslaved.

You're describing social darwinism. You know who was a big fan of that too?

It's amazing how easily you can cluelessly slip into supporting the basic tenets of fascism.

Do you see a single entity in the list of great nations that was NOT gratuitously violent??

Violence is not usually what makes a society great (Spain may be the exception) but a society well familiar with violence is able to defend that which makes it great.

A pacifist, non-violent society is simply doomed.

You're describing social darwinism. You know who was a big fan of that too?

To some extent, yes. The fittest societies are those able to defend themselves, to recognize their enemies, and to act, sometimes violently, in their own interests.

It is a matter of degree.

Funny that.....as I am about the least fascist person you have ever met.

Those nations were/are great for the people who benefit from the violence.

Nope, survival of the fittest is hogwash. You need to stop basing your ideology off of discredited 19th century biology. It's a convenient pseudo-scientific way to justify slavery, segregation, oppression and genocide.

Except in this thread you've been spouting fascist ideology and refuse to admit it.

Canada may be even more out of touch the the rest of the planet since we have purity much given up on defending ourselves since we have no possible way of ever defending ourselves against the states, and anything strong enough to conquer us would pose such a threat to the states they would have to intervene. That means we have even more distorted reality then any other country on earth.

Those nations were/are great for the people who benefit from the violence.
