TORONTO – Geography has again stumped Apple Inc, with the technology company mixing up and relocating both Canada's largest city and its national capital on a map showing when different parts of the country can expect new iPhone deliveries.
Not only did Apple's Canadian website misplace Toronto and Ottawa, it incorrectly placed Edmonton west of Calgary, and missed the apostrophe in St. John's, screen grabs from local media showed. The offending map was quickly removed.
The error prompted a new round of light-hearted digs at the Apple, which has a history of getting lost with its maps.
"You would think they could've asked Siri for help with that," said Twitter user Jennifer Hoegg, referring to Apple's voice-recognition software.
The latest snafu echoes the launch of Apple Maps, which replaced Google Maps as the default mapping application in 2012 to a chorus of complaints over errors and omissions.
CEO Tim Cook quickly apologized for those problems at the time and took the unusual step of recommending rival services.
The Canadian mishap was unfortunate on the day the smartphone and computer company began taking pre-orders for its iPhone 6 models, which quickly outpaced supply, especially for the Plus version with a larger screen.
Customers might have to wait three to four weeks to get their hands on the iPhone 6 Plus, while most versions of the smaller iPhone 6 should ship between 7 and 10 business days.
See anything wrong with this map? Apple's Canadian website shows the cities where the iPhone 6 can be delivered. (Apple screengrab)

It looks like Halifax has now taken over Kentville.

Here's a silly question:

Does Apple have any sort of proofing system in place where at least a second pair of eyes reviews something before it gets passed onto the public?

Second silly question:

Does anybody at Apple ever bother to check an existing map to reference their details while designing their own crap or are they afraid of copyright infringement lawsuits from the Earth?

Third silly question:

Why do people still clamor over this 3rd rate, over priced, over glorified crap?

It takes them a year (or more) to come out with a phone (or two the same but different sizes) and they still can't get their sh*t right.

Siri'ously, what do they do with all that time and money? I swear they have the next version already done and ready a month after the release of their current version and just sit on it for a year while building up the hype once in a while, while every other day is spent with them getting high and drunk with yuppie orgies in their airship somewhere in the Pacific.

Apple is like the EA / Activision of Phones..... No innovation, no effort and relying completely on marketing of the same crap but with a slight different look.

EA has been doing it for years with the Battlefield games (From Battlefied Bad Companie up till now) and Activision has been doing the same with Call of Duty (CoD4 - to present)

They know people will come and dish out their money for the same crap (but with some new skins and more lens flares).... So why try harder?

And Apple is doing the same thing.

The power of branding / marketing at work. It's that or people are attempting to relive Apples glory days or yesteryear.

It's only the equally insane fans of Apple and Android that care about the rivalry. Apple will be very happy with the returns of investment on the iPhone6 and will use it to stuff even more money in their vaults. It doesn't matter if you are #1 or #2 if you can make enough $$$$.

Personally, I chose Apple years ago because at the time there were no good Androids available in Canada. So I tend to stick with them. Good phone. Does what I need it to do (and a bit more). The Samsung S4 & S5 look like nice phones too (although a bit to big for me).

Northern Ontario,
The thing I don't like about the android phone is that every app you install wants access to everything including your address book with everyone's emails etc....It might be innocuous, but I don't like it!

TORONTO — Apple seems to be a little confused when it comes to Canadian geography.

Consumers who hit Apple.ca to pre-order one of the company’s new iPhones and clicked on a link about delivery timelines saw an error-riddled map of Canada.

Apple appeared to have mixed up the nation’s capital and Ontario’s capital, and placed Ottawa roughly where Toronto should be on the map.

Edmonton is also seen to be northwest of Calgary, instead of northeast.

Quebec City is mistakenly labelled as Quebec.

And St. John’s, N.L. is missing its apostrophe.

A comment from Apple was not immediately available.

KYANADA? What's thayet?

I'm not sure if its better to have Ottawa more in Southern Ontario than where it is now...

They tried something like that at the beginning.

The pesky Yankees were too close and too eager to take the place over.
