He still hasn't gotten over the fact the Yanks kicked their a$$es at Yorktown.
We're run by a glorious, politically neutral monarchy with a glorious 1,000 year history.
You're run by a boring politician in a suit.
Face it - A republic is boring. And we don't have a bloody politician as our Head of State.
Once again, a topic on a CANADIAN forum, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Canada.
No, the USA is NOT a "Christian Nation", and it never has been. There is no state religion in the USA, and we have had Christians, Jews, and Muslims in the USA since its earliest days as colonies of Great Britain.
The Constitution does not allow the government to establish any religion, or to promote any religion.
End of subject!
Islam isn't the state religion of Syria, but few would argue that Syria isn't a Muslim country.
Almost three quarters (73%) of all Yanks are Christians - 48% of Yanks are Protestants; 22% are Catholics; 2% are Mormons; 1% are Eastern Orthodox.
The USA was founded by Christians on Christian values. In fact, the USA started off as a group of English - and then British - colonies founded by Puritans, a group within the Church of England who were persecuted in England and so fled to North America where they founded Puritan colonies, which eventually became the USA (I'm sure you've heard of the Mayflower).
Christianity soaks the very history and fabric of the nation like no other religion. There are HALF A MILLION churches dotted around the USA, compared to just 3,727 synagogues; 2,106 mosques (almost double the number there were in 2000 before 9/11); a few hundred Sikh gurdwaras and a few hundred Hindu temples.
To try and argue - out of sheer desperation in the face of all evidence to the contrary, in my opinion - that the USA is NOT a Christian country is just completely and utterly
LUDICROUS.
