LOTS of Jews from Palestine settled right alongside with them and their children intermarried and they built communities together.

Like that honkin big Easter Egg in Vegreville, musta been one of their kids. Oh yeah, and we used them for greasing the wheels in the old chuckwagon races also.

Pretty much. Whether that's a positive or a negative I'll leave to you experts.

The interesting thing to me is that the American constitution is based on the constitution of the Iroquois Six Nations Confederacy, not on any Christian principles, which are patriarchal and hierarchical in nature. It has become a top down system with central control when it was originally designed to be just the opposite, a bottom up system.

Yes it does. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.." There cannot be an official state religion in the United States.

Prior to Congress who kept records, collected taxes, birth/death/marriage records, education etc? It was the Church on behalf of the King. All seperation of Church and State means the Church no longer did those things on behalf of the King for a fee.

Why does that baffle people?

First, that's at most partly true historically. Further, when you say "before Congress," I take it you mean "before the U.S. existed," yes? So what does that have to do with the U.S.? Here's a f'rinstance on what I mean. Before the Republic of Ireland existed, the official state religion of Ireland was the Church of Ireland (Anglican). Does that mean that after Ireland gained its freedom, it was an Anglican country?

Christianity...the dominant choice of the people. Anglican is a sect not a Religion

OK, you are correct. No, seriously. No sarcasm. It's a matter of definition, what you mean by "a Christian country." Dex is correct that the U.S. has no official religion, you are correct that Christianity is the dominant religion in the U.S., and has the most significant effect on U.S. society, for well or ill.

It's pretty simple. As long as Chritianty dominate as most popular the country is Christian who no longer use the Church as bean counters, educators and statisticians.

Considering the State and Church are in cahoots in the Residential Schools it is a Christian state, a false Christian state.

If the State claims no Religion as official they had an odd way of including prayer and Christian themes in all they do. It's only recently prayer was yanked from schools and Christmas trees on the White House lawn, swearing on the Bible etc.

"In God We Trust" on the money.

Still, it's interesting that the Constitution does not mention Gawd. Not once.
