Sigh - the usual hyperbole to evoke emotions - "contempt" "undemocratic" "angry" "coup" "death grip" - of course we all know that none of that is true. Some people just get a little too emotional when they don't agree with whatever government in power decides to do. Happened under the Liberals as well.

Why don't we just agree to disagree and quit with the emotional adjectives. Harper or conservatives doesn't "hate" Canadians. How absurd is that. There are Canadians who do absolutely "hate" Harper because they don't agree with him. Fine - don't agree. Voice your descent but for heavens sake stop with the BS!!

Why don't we just agree to disagree and quit with the emotional adjectives.

Because it's so much more FUN to characterise our minor political differences as a conflict between the Lord of Light and Satan Hitler.

Much more emotionally satisfying to those who don't feel alive unless they're hating.

, and your party is about as undemocratic a government as we´ve ever had,
.

Some of Canada's most undemocratic actions came from the Liberal legend himself, Pierre with no hair.

NEP,war measures act, jailing Canada post's labor leader, creating a constitution without a referendum,

Er, Capt., t'was the con leader who took money in paper bags from that German guy................not to put too fine a point on it.

Der Shmelling or whatever his name was.8O

Gotcha on a technicality there bud.. You see, buddy was receiving cash in a brown paper bag, that's a whole lot different than giving it out.... Unless, of course, they are giving it to me in which case I wholly support the practice

Not that I oppose it, but Gay marriage was rammed downed the throats of Liberals by Jean Chretien.
No, the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to deny gays the right to marry. It just happened to be under Jean's watch. If you are going to be a nit picking Con, at least get your facts straight, eh!

Sorry, there was a vote in the house in which the Liberal party whip forced all Liberals (with the exception of backbenchers) to vote it in.

What the supreme court did was not relevant to my post.

But just for sh!ts and giggles.

See below:

This article lists the members of the 38th Parliament of Canada and how they voted on Bill C-38, now known as the Civil Marriage Act. Bill C-38 amended the Marriage Act of Canada to recognize same-sex marriage (SSM). The 38th Parliament began with the federal election of June 28, 2004, and was dissolved on November 29, 2005. It was dissolved prior to the election of January 23, 2006. The legislation was later challenged by the members of the 39th Canadian Parliament.

Group For Against Absentees
Total

Is that factual enough for you?

And before you lip off about me being a Conservative and blah blah blah, I think that Gays should be able to marry whomever they want.

As stated it was later challenged (cough cough) put to a free vote by the conservatives and this was the result.

I think we should create a new law for straight people that disagree with the marriage laws, we could leave it untitled so the media has to refer to it as " the contract formerly known as marriage"
