I got to agree to disagree here somewhat, Sal. Sometimes when people are in a crisis situation or struggling with a problem, the best thing they can do is get back to a normal routine and keep as busy as possible. It helps to keep their mind off their problems, while at the same time doing something constructive. A feeling of accomplishment is often good therapy.
no offense but who gives a crap about his crisis...he has already spread his crisis across the globe...a normal routine for a rich recovering drug addicted/alcoholic should include the gym, his family who he has humiliated and wounded in ways you and I can not even imagine and learning to cope with real life so that he can move forward and live past 55. That would be constructive. Setting himself up for failure is a stupid gambit.

the public office is not his private therapy office (although he seems to think it should be)

or maybe a lot of people are sick to death of him and want him to vanish...(at least for a while)

the fact he even did the whole come back thing right out of rehab is pathetic

he may feel all healed and happy but the people of Toronto need some time which speaks once again to everything being all about him and knowing zero about human nature...there's a shock eh?

a jihad...buffoons

which is why guys like you should never hold public office...if you can't separate yourself then you are not capable of the position

john a macdonald was a drunk

Perhaps the media deserve most of the credit for that. Yep, I agree the gym is important therapy but getting back to work is also important.

the media...nope

we are our choices..

he doesn't get a pass because he checked himself into rehab for a few months...he owes his family more than this but yeah it's typical of an addict to put themselves first

Rob Ford is just one example of a problem that is running rampant in society today. Mental Health and Addictions don't discriminate between wealth and poverty or social standings. We are all vulnerable. It happens everywhere from the depths of the gutters to the highest pinnacles. Until you've stood helplessly by and watched a young promising life destroyed, you just don't understand the full impact of the illness.

I guess as soon as he got out of rehab, we should have known the idiots would come out in droves. Some people are just plain ignorant. When people are being treated for heart disease or cancer they can have the expectation of privacy re their medical condition. It would be a good thing if people being treated for addictions and mental illness would be give the same consideration. Olivia Chow (hopefully) may have done more damage to herself than Ford through all this. Would any other mental patient be subjected to the questions Rob Ford has? I doubt it very much. I guess they walk among us.

The only idiots are the mayor and his brother. Sorry, but his "disease" is a not a wipe the slate clean card. He rightfully needs to answer the questions he's avoiding, he's the mayor of the city and people deserve answers.

guys like you scowling at me night and day would drive me - yes me - to drink, as well.

Would he also cause you to become a filthy mouthed bigot, crack user and a gang associate?

Why do you continue to identify Ford as a conservative? He's done nothing but taint the brand with his white trash antics.

I get your point, but I've been identifying his opposition as left. Why would you say his actions taint the actions of conservatives abroad yet not say the same thing about the lefties that are opposing him? Surely if he is just one guy, then the several lefty guys should be tainting the left, as well.

Sounds like classic, sociopathic narcissist to me....with a drug and alcohol problem. I know, I have an ex just like him. Call me bitter but my heart no longer bleeds for people like this.

Rob's got his self a 'sobriety coach' now.

Once upon a time a sponsor was all a drunk needed. Oh well, sobriety coach it is I guess.

He needs a "life coach". As it is, he is going to split the the conservative vote and hand Chow the mayorship.

This whole rehab and AA/NA gimmick Ford's pulling on Toronto just makes mockery of honest efforts from real people. Karma's a bitch and I hope her teeth are strong and sharp.

BTW ... this too is neither a left nor right thing, JB

Partisanship should have nothing to do with it, any reasonable person should be able to acknowledge that he's a train wreck. It's time to let the adults play, it sickens me to think that so called "conservatives" would vote for him instead of Tory, Tea Party Syndrome.

I've watched a man like that ruin many lives. Young and old. But I digress

It isn't a left - right thing. It's a power thing. Delude yourself all you want. The only one you're fooling is yourself - just like any drunk, dope addict or power-hungry jerk
true, ford has been a PR trainwreck from day one. yet people voted for him. And, others have tried their best to dethrone him. PET once said that democracy is never wrong, it can be misinformed, but never wrong.
