Just one small point: I've been eating bananas for over seventy years. The bananas at the store this morning don't look any different than the bananas did when I was a kid.

come on jaun, you have simply forgotten that until Monsanto came along there was no corn, or watermelon, no bananas...nature is incapable of producing such good things without chemical intervention

it's for the best, just accept your fate...it's all good...

right, because before monsanto, mankind had never genetically modified any of his food stuffs.

Bananas were introduced in Canada around 1910. Over the years different strains were brought in to fight various diseases but the banana looks about the same as it always did.

You've been eating from the same banana tree for over 70 years, they are all cuttings. Same goes for apples.

GMO weed huh? Good. It's about time.

There is a reason for governments not force labeling foods.
In Canada we don't know where our food comes from or how it was produced.

Most products that make up Canadian baked bread come from China, as well as most everything is made from products from china.

There is only one factory outside of china that produces Ascorbic acid and that is in Scotland.
Most vitamins source their ingredients from china.

Most bulk food items like jube jubes are from China.
Jubes are made from bovine cow spines, i wonder if china ever had a mad cow.

the whole thing is preposterous. Most of those packaged organic cereals and candies in the grocery food isle are made in china and there is nothing organic about them. I know the head salesmen for 90% of those items sold in stores and he would not eat any of it due to his saying"They don;t give a sh it whats in it"

The Franken food industry is slowly ruining everything natural. Cross pollination and such.
Thats why most seeds for Canada are banned in Europe .

Proof that marketing and branding works.

If you think mankind has never "genetically modified" our food stuffs through the ages, then that proves how much the "anti" crowd has been able to brainwash the gullible.

if you are referring to grafting , thats not genetically altering something.

My point was that people were blaming all g.m on Monsanto, like there was no other way to modify food.

Canadian seed wouldn't grow in Europe regardless and Monsanto doesn't sell seed. Seeds are from from local sources to maintain landrace genetic traits that produce huge yields.

The EU knows that if they use GMO seed, they will overproduce and if our grain and oil seed entered the EU market it drive EU grain and oil seed down to the point where EU producers would go broke. It's all about protecting their markets from being crushed and has nothing to do with health or safety.

In case you were unaware Germany's Bayer Crop Sciences who are second only to Monsanto produce GMO grains and oil seed. I'm growing Bayer GMO canola this year after seeing the amazing crop my local seed growers had last year to produce this year's seed.

Hybrids and landrace are genetically altered.

Just another small point, the OP link is referring to alteration over millennia. You're not that old.

Hybrids and landrace are genetically altered.

Yep, any selection of traits, conventional, biotech, or otherwise, even without selecting traits, is genetic alteration. People have this weird idea that changes to genomes are only bad when we force the change. There's no evidence, it's just another boogey man.

Isn't 'genetic modification' the splicing of genes from another species?

What has created our current foods like bananas and corn is selective breeding. It is humans messing with nature on natures terms.

Genetic modification did not create corn and bananas as we know them today.

This is just right-tard misdirection and lack of simple knowledge of the difference between selective breeding and genetic modification.

Good day.
