Harper's just a weeeeeeee bit late on this one.

YEs, Harper should have sent in the army and forcibly vaccinated folks in the developing world

The reason people don't get vaccinated is the same reason people deny climate change. They don't believe the scientists, and the more outsiders try to tell them that teh scientists are right, the more they are disinclined to believe in vaccinations.

Thanks - had a good laugh on the uber-stretch of logic on that one

PS - Included Twila's post for your perusal on the AGW front... Think Robbie Redford and Neil Young

They also like to believe movie stars and people who are famous for things other then scientific education and training.

The scientists told us that vaccinations would save lives and even erradicate one of the world's worst diseases (small pox)

They did.

The "scientists" told us that the North Pole would be ice free, the temperature rise was going to follow the disasterous prediction of a hockey-stick graph, and rising sea levels would flood cities, and disasterous weather events would multiply astronomically.......

They did NOT.

Can you tell the difference??

Think Chicken Little, or if you prefer, the Boy Who Cried Wolf...........

Why doesn't teller talk?

It is just part of the act.....he does talk in interviews.

Which is all BIGPHARMA really wants. To manage a desease. Acured patient is no longer a revenue stream.

That is such a load of crap, I'm consistently surprised at how this talking point manages to survive. Think of each illness as a market. If my company has the only cure, then we control that market. All the other pharmaceuticals with indications that manage that disease instead of curing it will all lose vast amounts of money. Their patents will be meaningless, and they will lose their development costs because nobody wants to buy their medication when they can buy ours which will cure them.

And how would it no longer be a revenue stream? New humans are being born every day, and the disease will have some prevalence that it occurs at in the population. Having the only cure means you have the monopoly as long as your patent is protected. From a competitive stand point, having a cure would be a huge win. Your competitors lose money, and you gain it all.

If pharmaceuticals were not interested in preventing disease, there would be no vaccines produced by pharmaceuticals. That is obviously not the case.

Vaccinations save lives - the lives of your children and those who come in contact with your children. Vaccinations should be mandatory.

It would not be right to make ANY invasive procedure mandatory.........however, one can make it so children can not attend public school unless they are vaccinated.

agreed and most people do it anyway, so far it is not an issue

I should qualify that statement by saying at least from my limited experience in my job and community

in general or just their belief in this area?

I guess they are all a little different, but I would be suspicious of most of the reasoning of such people. How would they account for the elimination of Small Pox

I have to disagree with you on this one, Colpy. In this case I think the health and safety of the masses takes precedence over individuals opinions! -:)

It's really unfortunate that the CIA started using polio vaccinations as cover, that was a big set-back for the polio eradication program of the WHO. The Middle East continues to have many needless deaths because of it.

Northern Ontario,
It's perfectly normal for people to believe someone who tells them something they are ready to accept as fact....
The way to change someone's mind is not to demean him by calling them flat earthers and such or to preach condescendingly like Al Gore or Suzuki......
One should take an example from Shakespeare's Mark Antony speech in "Caesar" ...(I came to bury Caesar............)

But calling somebody names is OK when all other efforts have failed

In every case where disease such as smallpox has been suppressed the evidence points to sanitation and nutrition, without exception. The recent outbreaks of Measles in New York state was found to be among those vaccinated against measles. While you may be gifted with natural healthy skepticism you may, at the same time, override those reasoning skills by not practicing the carpet bombing approach with respect to your application of your fine skepticism. The rule is that there are to be no sacred cows or temples where your doubt is not applied. There are no human institutions left uncorrupted in this era. That is why this era is closing with a bang.

So you're trying to say that sanitation and nutrition is more effective at managing small pox? Why not other diseases? One disease has been eradicated. It strains reality to say sanitation and nutrition alone worked for small pox, and not measles, or pertussis.

You can't explain it without mentioning vaccinations, which makes the susceptible population lower.

Its' akin to how every single person who has ever died has drunk water and so water kills.

All to often the establishment will paint an horrific crime like this Polio majic death by injection among the designated useless eaters as unfortunate. Of course the WHO is leading the efforts of the earths wealthy crust to eliminate said useless eaters. The World Health Organisation has always been in the business of promoting disease not ending it. I suppose you believe gold miners are really in the business of preserving and protecting the gold mines in pristine natural condition for the coming generations to view in their natural untouched state. I suspect you've had a great many vaccinations and all the boosters. You're without doubt one of the nuttiest posters I've encountered here at CCC.
