Well, the best team won it tonight although not necessarily the best goalie. I think the Habs ran the tank a little low in game 5!

It was a grand run for the Habs, JLM. Kudos to the team for getting as far as they did. I guess they answered all the questions surrounding a back-up goalie when Price is hurt. Tokarski is earning huge creds today for his incredible play during the games he played as well he should.

Now I will switch to cheering for Alain's team as he surely has shown what a great coach he is in his first year with the Rangers.

Well that was a close one! I thought the US was going to send our Cup back. ;)

they are 'our canadians' playing on all of those teams, not a u.s. cup at all, we are just using their
space, we needed more room. lol

there is no u.s. division, it is majority canadian players, just because they play south of the 49th,
doesn't change anything, they are still 'our' players.

its not about north and south, its about east and west in canada or the u.s., the two conferences divide
the league, not the countries.

yes, an injury for one, makes a new career for another, its happened over and over thru the years, now he
is on his way, and he earned it.

the goalkeeping is not why montreal lost, not at all, if the team can't even score one goal, they can't
look at the goalie, they must look in the mirror.

i'm so happy for alain too, he has done wonders with that team this year, settled them down, brought back
two star players who were not performing well, one was even sat out by torterella, what a shame, now he
is back on top where he belong, 'brad richards', a proud guy, a guy who has earned so much respect, and
i am happy to see him enjoying his craft again.

i will have a soft spot for alain, but i now step onto my own turf in the western conference, i will cheer
loudly for whichever western team makes it into the finals, but i will enjoy both teams playing their guts
out to win that cup.

Yeah, I'll root for the Rangers although I won't be as vigilant as with the Habs- too much seasonal stuff to do without tying up 3 hours a night in front of the idiot box. Moore is extended family of my brother, although my bro. isn't very happy with him at the moment. -:)

moore is a very good player, scored the goal last night, and almost scored another to seal the deal.

last year was a very tough year for him as you know, and he has survived it well to move forward, thats as far as i want
to know about his private life, i don't care who likes him or who doesn't.

the media are starting to talk about kesler again, say that he wants a meeting with linden and
benning when they return from toronto, and will give them a new list of teams he is willing to
play on if traded. wonder how they know these things, and i'm sure they actually don't, will be
interesting to follow along and find out if that is factual or not.

they have been in toronto all week at the combine, which is a gathering of all the top prospects, and
teams have interviews with these young players to get a feeling about them, which helps out going
forward to the draft, helps make decisions about wanting or not wanting certain players.

at the end of next week we will probably hear who will be the new head coach, as they will be interviewing
all next week i assume.

I'll be vigilant in your stead, JLM as any seasonal stuff around here has been put off until the rain stops and it warms up.

I don't do East/West. I cheer for a team for all kinds of reasons but my support goes to the team I have chosen as My Team which most here know is the Penguins or the Riders depending on the sport. There are a few players on both the Hawks and the Kings that I really like - Toews and Carter come immediately to mind but this time I am cheering for a coach - and Alain's the guy. Oh, and the Rangers also have one of my top five players - Mighty Mouse.

Personally, and with about 1/100th of the hockey knowledge that talloola possesses, I am hoping the Hawks win the West as I think the Kings will be a tougher team for the Rangers.

i wonder what will happen with the cfl problems, do you think they will start on time? all of the media and teams are setting themselves up as though things are 'as usual', but i wonder.

i think that the rangers and hawks are quite similar in style, would be a very fast
game, but then if it is l.a., they have become a much more balanced team than in the
past, when they were a big, heavy, defensive team, now they are still 'that', but
they can also score goals and don't have to depend on their defense to keep them
in the game, they also have good offense. gaborik, who is an x ranger, before going
to columbus, then l.a., has 11 goals in the playoffs, the most at the moment.

but with lunquist going up against crawford, rangers, if they play their best
could come out on top. hawks have struggled a bit, some of their goal scorers
aren't showing up in some games, sharp for one, hossa struggled in last game, even
though they won, kane isn't scoring, but is setting others up, and toews is
his usual self, always plays so hard, definitely team leader in that respect.

l.a. should end it tonight, but if they don't, i give chicAgo the nod at home.

this was an entertaining game, lots of lead changes, and the pace of the first period was amazing,
very very fast, and very intense.

thought chic was going to do it, then no, l.a. is going to do it, no, chic, l.a., and finally it
was chicago who won the game.

patrick kane is some kind of player, 4 assists last game, and tonight 2 goals and 2 assists.
he reminds me of 'henry richard' from long ago, hard to get the puck away from him, and he
gives out very pretty passes, and scores very nice goals, and henry richard wasn't very big
either.

chicago earned this one, l.a. didn't dominate this game like i thought they would at home, and
now that chicago can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and they have game 7 at home, they
might turn it up another notch, but i'm sure l.a. have their own plans, so i have no predictions
with these two teams, they will bAttle, and they will battle hard, and may the best team win.
chicago have improved a lot thru this series, the needed to, and they have, they
have found their game.

this wasn't a really good game, goalies were not sharp, and the game, especially in the first
period was quite sloppy.

but as the game went along things got better, but in my opinion chicago was a tad better, their puck
handling was sharper, but the game stayed so even with the constant tieing up of the score.

anyway as a 'western conference' fan, the l.a. kings are in 'my' division, so it comes close to
home for me.

first game of the cup finals on wednesday in l.a.

congratulations to l.a. kings.

i must mention the 'class' of this series. these two teams have so much respect for each other.
they battled harder than any other series i have watched, but their respect for each other was
higher, there were no hateful acts, no dirty plays, and it is obvious that each team knew that
their opponant had the same level of class as the other. very impressive.

I bet they are pissed off in Chicago right now- anyway it suits me! -:)

if you were a chicago blackhawk you would be pissed off too, at least you should be, if not, the
level of desire and compete would not be very good.
they should be pissed off, disappointed, let down, ect.

Kings v Rangers

West v East Coast

should be quite a series!

yeah, should be good. alain vigneault knows the l.a. kings like the back of his hand, and if it had of
been chicago, it would be the same.
he has had many battles and playoff experience with both teams, not so long ago, so there won't be any
surprises for him at all.

western conference vs eastern conference

Geography is not an issue for me in this one, I'm behind the Rangers! -:)

its not about geography, its about conferences, lots of teams are somewhere in the middle, not west
or east.
you've decided to cheer for the eastern conference, nothing wrong with that, its a free country.

Folks often view it as regional rivalries. In fact, I already heard it mentioned that way on sports radio. Anyways, I'm with you = Go Rangers!

Kudos for the Broadway Blues:

well, you are in the eastern conference, right? a new yorker? i can't imagine
you cheering for l.a.that would seem strange.

anyway goodluck to you and your rangers, i will be cheering for the west, all
the way back here on the west coast. go. l.a., and good luck to both teams.
