When I do that, they always come back with, "Oh, so you know Jesus then." I answer, " why yes. He is a very good friend of mine and he tells me that he is really pissed off at self righteous pricks like you."
You say that to any believer, doesn't matter if they are talking to you or not. Often enough that is qualifies as a 'often preached sermon', like just now.

What the hell does that mean? Do I need to run it through Google Translator?

JLM,
Sounds like Darrel needs to brush up on his technique. I always like to first make eye contact and then wait at least 30 seconds for vulcanization to occur. It's the Nordstrom approach.

Any chance you might have this encounter with Darrel on video? JLM, you are a very fine classic!

My first awareness of Darrel was him shouting at me while he was still 50' behind me. NO, I didn't get his picture. I was actually on a tight schedule as I had to get home right away to watch the hockey game. His answer to everything is "the Bible says"!

JLM: Whoa! Darrel was determined. Sounds like he was hunting you on that bike of his.
Who you looking to win the Cup this year?

For somebody who hates sermons you are never 'visit' without delivering your one sermon. (whether or not fits in) If I was to any clearer you would be able to see right through me.

You should have entered 'cliffies fav sermon and this would have been on the first 5 pages.

Well, I thought Montreal had it in the bag, but apparently not. I wouldn't be unhappy if the Rangers won it.

To my accounting, Dex this is your third page of side-stepping in his discussion and there is still not a single shred of evidence offered in support of your original opinion.
I did give you one example, that ought to count as at least a shred. What do you want, I should list all the products of science and technology in your life and how they impact it? You're asking for information that ought to be part of your fund of common knowledge.

The essential question regarding science: How'd we get here? Evolution is just a theory, yes? Intelligent Design? Other? I say all answers regarding this talk of science hinge on that. Perhaps, the Intelligent Designer determined that all would not be solved or disclosed in an instant. Rather, at last, all will be made perfect and whole. Or maybe Evolution will hold true. Sure, just maybe the collision of amino acids, rocks, and duck poop launched all of creation.

Do you know what a theory is? Gravity is just a theory. Feel free to deny it.

The problem I have is that both science and religion have over simplified the process to the point that it is nonsensical. A process that takes billions of years cannot be summarized in a few verses in Genesis and the Big Bang is just as ludicrous. Our life span is but a blink of the eye in a span of time of billions of years. There is no way to comprehend the enormity of the process. Besides, I think human evolution ceased several hundred thousand years ago. We are just as barbaric as then, we just have more sophisticated ways of offing larger numbers of ourselves. At the rate we are destroying our life support system, we will be extinct in a few hundred years or less, so we can't claim intelligence for our survival so far. Breeding like rats would be a better explanation.

But I'll give you an obvious example anyway. It wasn't very long ago that people commonly died from infection following relatively minor injuries, about half of children died before reaching five years old, and a substantial fraction of women and children died from the birthing process.

Unless you are able to cite a credible source, Dex, this example you've provided is anecdotal at best.
