It's so simple, everyone misses the obvious. What pushes us to get better? To invent something? To improve ourselves?
Things that are painful. Things that are hard. Adversity, failure. Our survival. Those are the things that push us to be smart.

Humans are smart because they have to be to survive. Not cause they are. If there is nothing pushing us to be smart you think will go out of our way to be smart?
Our lives are cake walks. We don't need to be smart to survive, so we only become as smart as we need too to survive, and right now that's not very much. We have set all our standards to the lowest denominator in our effort to give everyone a chance.

America is simply dumb because our individual everyday survival dose not require us to be intelligent. It's that simple.
Humans don't go out of there way to accomplish something hard or be intelligent very often unless there is a big reward like its own survival.

Just the fact I have to explain this to all of you shows how dumb you all are
To be fair to all of you though, you just haven't really needed to be smarter then you all are, so it's understandable

No, humans are smart because we adopted standards that reinforce intelligent behaviour. Our greatest pushes forward came during the humanitarian revolution and in the latter half of the 20th century. These were periods of widely adopted action on justice, peace and (to some extent) liberty and are a big reason why we haven't gone back to clubbing each other.. to survive.

Consequently, these were also periods where we could focus on developing our democratic institutions.

Who controls the American public school system? Unionized Democrats. How are they doing?

Teachers unions are part of the Democratic coalition. They control the American public schools.

Which was the point I was trying to make and it went right over the heads of some.

You are entirely in error. Humans survive because of reasoning skill and luck and nothing else. While the paper versions of humanitarian action, justice peace and liberty certainly have been popularized no discernable progress has been made in these areas whatever in fact our inhumanity and injustice and warfare have all worsened with our technological advancements. We club each other more efficiently than ever before.

Just goes to show that there are still places in the US that focus more on creationism than a robust science education.

We actually have the lowest rate of violent deaths in our history on this planet.

I would say Cliffy probably knew it was a joke, at least I hope so. You, on the other hand, are a prime example of what is wrong with CANADA'S education system.

Another proof of endless American stupidity:

A survey was conducted, asking American parents what they would do if they found out that their son is a Homo Sapiens.

About 70% said they would kick him out of the house

Nope. Your not looking at it from its grass root.

Why did we invent a washing machine?
Cause washing clothing used to take up so much time it was miserable. (Pain)
Why did we invent the refrigerator?
Cause spending weeks of canning foods was miserable . (Pain)
Why did we add running water inside our homes?
Cause fetching it everyday was miserable (pain)

We simply want to be as comfortable as we possibly can. Our discomfort is our biggest motivator to be intelligent.
Our live today is simply so easy that there is no longer a need to be intelligent. So we specialize In one task to earn money and we are able to
survive as a bunch of dumb idiots.

Now look at it from a other angle
The pain of washing clothing for hours gave us pride.
Canning foods for weeks gave use motivation to not waste.
Fetching water every morning made us disciplined and strong.

Survival was based on you being a strong intelligent disciplined efficient individual. Failure to be that usually ended with your death.

Angstrom, identifying situations that merit pain doesn't mean we are fighting for survival.
