I'd wager there is a job lined up well worth quitting to take.

With that law firm that her ex works for that landed that multimillion tobacco lawsuit.
And her fingers were never never the process that awarded that contract. Nope. You heard it here first.

Alison Redford didn’t have conflict of interest in tobacco lawsuit: Justice minister | National Post

Justice Minister Jonathan Denis says to his knowledge Redford did not step in when she was justice minister to see that the government’s multimillion-dollar tobacco lawsuit was awarded to a firm that employs her ex-husband Robert Hawkes.

A report by the CBC points to a December 2010 memo from then-justice minister Redford to her senior officials saying that of all three shortlisted firms, the International Tobacco Recovery Lawyers consortium was the best.

Alberta premier accused of conflict in tobacco case - Edmonton - CBC News

Premier Alison Redford, while justice minister, personally chose her ex-husband's law firm for a government tobacco-litigation contract worth potentially tens of millions of dollars in contingency fees, a CBC News investigation has found.

One of Canada’s top experts in conflict of interest says Redford was in a clear conflict and should have not made that decision.

"The minister of justice, as she then was, Alison Redford, in my view behaved unethically and possibly illegally by not recusing herself from making a decision in which she had a private interest, and was in a conflict of interest situation," said Prof. Arthur Schafer, director of the Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics at the University of Manitoba.

Redford was the second best premier Alberta had in the last 43 years.

She is intelligent and competent. Men hate those qualities in a woman.

Choosing between the Wild Rose and the Conservatives is like deciding betweeng Rice Krispies or Crispy Rice for breakfast.
I listened to some of those wack jobs running for Wild Rose- To me there was and is a difference.
Steele screwed the pooch by not canning them same day.
Imho that cost her the election.
Sent Liberals/NDP in droves that voted Conservative.

The borderland between the Conservatives and the Wild Rose is fairly fluid. However, the Right Sector of the Wild Rose was courted by the Federal Conservatives. Not a surprise, but indicative of their intent..a few provocateurs tried to make life difficult for Alison.

This is what happens when the Parliamentary system is put at the mercy of the Party Convention system. You get someone who is adept marketing and organizing campaigns and who brings in politically naive 'new members' to gain the leadership.. and is a completely incompetent leader.. someone who cannot muster the loyalty and talents of her caucus.

The Parliamentary system was originally intended to have the Party as a secondary association. It was the responsibility of Representatives of the majority political persuasion to vote amongst themselves to support a Prime Minister and Cabinet.

What has developed now is a system where the Representatives are cast aside in the process.. and the Leader is given the privilege of imposing or rejecting Candidates chosen at a local level, completely disenfranchising the local organization. This leaves everything in the hands of political insiders of the Premier's Office.. apparently an apparatus that Redford failed to construct.

It's why you end up with a drooling, visionless, intellectual nonentity like Stephen Harper, a shill for the Global Investmentment Organism.. a post-nationalist who has already given up on Canada as a sovereign nation as Prime Minister of Canada. Someone who rules his Caucus by fear, bribery, intimidation and the contrivances of the PMO to selectively divide, delegate and usurp power.. rather than by respect.

I'm getting the impression that Redford might have been a bit of a control freak. Beyond the Mandela Funeral Scandal, there was a lot of division in the party. She did the right thing by resigning.

Actually she should be in jail by now. I imagine we'll hear if that happens. Maybe they could save the taxpayer some money by double bunking her with Pamela Wallin.

It had to do with billing taxpayers for a flight back from Madella's funeral. A 10K tab that she refused to pay for herself, apparently the ride down in Harpers plane left her with a foul taste in her mouth so she lied about having to get back before that flight left. (if that was really the case she should have stayed and sent a replacement to represent her) She can probably make more in the private sector so there maybe more to the story.
