Well, you know what this means. It'll be illegal for good Christians to show the holy love of Jesus by throwing queers, darkies, and Meskins outta their stores and restaurants.
I calculate the Antichrist'll be along directly, now that the Satanic sinners in Wash'tin and that lesbian Governor Brewer done stabbed good God-fearin' folk in the back.
The Constitution that American hold dear has "equality for all" clause in there which put freedom of religion in jeopardy since all of them have a racist or gender prejudice component in their beliefs and God is the main problem and make the Constitution flawed.
That would be an excellent point except that the Constitutino has no "equality for all" clause, and the kind of discrimination the Arizona legislation was supporting doesn't violate the Constitution, but a Federal statute, to wit, the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The Governor vetoed the bill, as she did a very similar one last year.
Some people just do not understand how government in the USA work. We do not have a Parliamentary system in any of the 50 States, or in any of the Territories. State legislators can pass anything they choose to pass, but unlike Canada (and Great Britain, etc.) passing a bill does not make it law.
They can only make a law, without the Governor's approval IF they can muster a 2/3 vote of BOTH houses of the State legislature, to override that Veto.
There are pros and cons to both systems, but personally, I prefer the US model. No one party controls everything in most cases.

Basically what you are saying is the States follow rule by law. Well, that's what a republic does. That's why the States is a Republic. And yes, it is different than a democratic monarchy.
I am pretty sure that most people get that.

Ordinarily, yes, people should have the right to deny service or goods on a private basis as long as it isn't on a basis of prejudism. Like you can't deny someone something because they are a different religion than you, or a different age, gender, or sexual preference.

Or maybe why stop there? Why not require customers to show proof of their political affiliation prior to service as well? That way you can just draw battle lines everywhere. Wouldn't that be fabulous.

Absolutely. I was waiting for the first time an EMT refused to treat a gay person, and let said gay person bleed out on the pavement, coz that's the way Jesus said it should be.
Good news is there are bigotry bills pending in four other states, so maybe you can find a home where you can hate and exclude others the way Jesus commanded, Boom.

I agree. It was a stupid bill and I am glad the Gov. vetoed it.
Courts in Texas and Kentucky, deeply conservative and religious states, have now overturned Laws defining marriage as between one man and one woman. There is a relentless momentum to this.. it has nothing to to with equality or diversity or human rights.
It is the imposition of a tyranny of political correctness. Of the overturning of rational moral code on which all of the constitutions and civil structures of Western countries are based to one of absurd moral inversion and dissolution; of the codification of principles of moral relativism, radical individualism, material (especially sexual) gratification as the sole principles of adjudication and definition of institutions.
It'll be catastrophic in the long run, of course. You can't put in a paradigm that turns marriage into an absurdity; that defines the intrinsic evil and self-destruction and manic self centredness that comprises homosexuality as a natural, in fact preferred 'state' (by way of its status as 'victims' group) without undermining the entire societal structure of the West and especially the trivialization of the concept of Family, the foundation of any society, into pure nonsense.
I haven't read this law in Arizona. But essentially it is meant to prevent this kind of chaotic, meaningless ethos becoming the defining cultural template. The fact that nobody bothered to even articulate this position in the media shows that we are on a path of no return. And towards a destiny that will see the unravelling of civil order in ways that will be totally unexpected, but will capsize the culture and economy in profound violence.
We are in the grips of some form of mass insanity.. and it will come back on us with avengence.
