Why are many Christians so intolerant of other religions and spiritual paths?

Cliffy, please explain how as you say "get my inspiration and words direct from the source."

In other words, Cliff does the same thing I do. Speak to God/Jesus directly and not rely on what some men wrote 2000 plus years ago.

gerry, in what way does Jesus respond to you? How do you know his thoughts or what he is communicating to you?

Why does it matter. I talk to God on a regular basis. Many with their ugliness have distorted religion and the message from Jesus.
Questions
So you believe in original sin- still with us from the day we are born?

Believe in Hell?

Muslims and others that have heard of Jesus that do not convert are lost?

Yes- No -

Ummmmmm...... because he makes it known to me. I'm not about to question the hows, why's, and wherefores. I just know.

since you are one that prefers bible quotes

Matthew 7:7

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

What specifically have the "many" distorted regarding the message of Jesus?

Without going into great depth, yes, original sin is a tenet of the Christian faith. As is hell. Jesus was the one that said we must be born again. He came to save the lost.

15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

How does He make it known to you? How do you ascertain this knowledge you receive is from God?
Do you not like what is written in the Bible? Do you read the Bible to help you find the will of God? Or do you rely on some other source, or none? Just prayer?

Questions were simple, I am a simple man. If you cannot answer, state such, forget the Biblical quotes please.

That's not evidence, buttercup, that's your wishful thinking (and I use the term "thinking" in the broadest possible context).

I guess there's a few on here who think they have their own dedicated "pipeline" not available to the rest of us. (Maybe they are part of the 144,000 alluded to in Revelations). -:)

No one has a dedicated pipeline that is not available to everyone else. You have the same ability as I do to speak with Christ. It's your choice if you do or don't.

How does He make it known to you? How do you ascertain this knowledge you receive is from God?
Do you not like what is written in the Bible? Do you read the Bible to help you find the will of God? Or do you rely on some other source, or none? Just prayer?

I suggest you try speaking to Christ. Obviously you have not, up to this point.

Open your eyes and you shall see, open your ears and you shall hear.

Goober, methinks you are trolling for an uprising. You wish to battle. I did answer you. I'll answer again.

Original Sin - YES
Hell - Hell Yes
Your third question is more than one question so I shall answer as follows: If someone has heard the gospel & denied Christ after hearing the Word, are they "saved"? No, not until they place faith in Jesus. The other question couched in the one you asked is, If someone has not heard the gospel, will they be saved? I do not know. Jesus sure did admonish his disciples to share the gospel.

How are we to know the hearts of men? We know not our own heart.

How is it obvious that I have not spoke with Christ?

Then our paths differ and I hope you find the way.

Cliffy, please explain how as you say "get my inspiration and words direct from the source."
What do you think it means?

Like I said before, each person comes to their understanding of god/universe/creator according to their own understanding. If I am connected to source/god/spirit then my expression f these things reflects what I have learned from source/god/spirit. I realize that spirit lead you to the Christian view and I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with is Christians telling others that their way is the only way. It isn't. It IS the only way for them and may not be for others. You base your belief on a 2000 year old book. I base mine on direct communication with the source.

gerry, you are being rather cryptic.

No, no I'm not.

Goober, if you hope I find the way, why not tell me where to find it and what it entails?

He can't, it is a personal journey. Only you and your saviour knows how to get there and what the journey entails. Open up your eyes, ears, and heart to Christ and he will show you the way. Trying to find answers from long dead men that have twisted Christs words to fit their own agenda will get you running in circles.

gerry, please give me at least one example of a dead guy that twisted Jesus' words. If I remember correctly you are not fond of the apostle Paul.

Methinks our sources are rather different Cliffy. I rely on the Holy Spirit who has his own thoughts, will and personality. I am not of the Universal mind set. My source is a distinct being. I'm ok with differing opinions.

There is no Hell
No original sin- What did Jesus die for- the Sins of man - excepting original sin, I think not. Think on it.
God loves his children. Do you think God will condemn his Children. I think not.

Jesus stated that he had brought a new and ever lasting covenant to man. The old covenant was gone. He stated that he brought forward only God's commandments( the 10 commandments), yet Paul quotes and brings forward laws from Leviticus, the old covenant, man's laws, and brings them forward as if they are God's laws. You want to live by mosaic and Levitican law, then convert to Judaism and renounce Christ.
