Yeah, I guess it's a sign of the times, for safety you pretty well have to expect anything from anyone at anytime! Sort of stems from the late 60s when "doing your own thing" was the way of the world and "F... everyone else" -:)

ummm...ya..... he's a pu$$y and she's a hysterical bitch.

He cheats on her, she finds out, and he goes whining to the cops because she's uber pissed. What's he gonna do if he ever get's into the NHL? Whine to the refs because another player threatens to "take him out"?

We don't know how many previous occasions there were, so maybe he just decided he was going to put a stop to it once and for all, legally, without danger of anyone getting physically hurt. We don't know if she's a stalker or what!

Have they determined that the texts did indeed come from her phone? You never know if he had created them himself to get back at her. If they did originate from her phone, she could either be stalkerish or just the jilted lover. I'm sure more will come out on this story as time goes by.

Yep, as far as I know cell phone texts can't be "hidden" -(unless some sh*t disturber got a hold of her phone and decided to have a little fun! )

when is a threat a threat?

Well, for a fair legal comparison, when is a murder a murder?

If my husband were to tell me he'd cheated on me, and I lost my brain in the context of that conversation, and stab him to death, it is not considered 'pre-meditated', or 1st degree murder (ie, planned murder). It is considered heat of the moment, and is treated differently by the law.

So, if he tells me he cheated on me, and I flip and tell him I'm gonna kill him, doesn't it stand to reason that this threat is also as un-thought-out as a murder would be in the heat of the moment?

So, was it a threat? Yes.

Is it the same as if she threatened to kill him a week after finding out? No.

Do I think she's serious about it? Well, I'm glad there are other people to make that call.

It's one of those things where 999 times out of a 1000 nothing would come of it and she is just acting like a spoiled brat, BUT you probably don't want to take that chance in a 1000 either. (For all we know she could be loaded up on drugs)

I gotta agree with your incredulence, Karrie. When coming up with terms that could be used for her, spoiled brat is not one of them!

I kind of like to keep things short and simple and to the point, but I guess I could have said someone who throws a tantrum when they can't handle disappointment. -:)

There's a story on here about a man having slit his girlfriend's throat and set her on fire because he didn't want her talking to other men.

But she yells when she finds out she's been cheated on, and she's 'not handling disappointment well'?

I don't know, it reads to me like she's handling finding out someone cheated on her poorly, but within the realm of expected human lashing out.

It's not really a tantrum though either. I think most people would feel like ranting and raving if we were confronted with that kind of news (betrayal) but most of have the self control not to. Or least the self control to stop if the police ask us to. It's the not stopping that, for me, takes it another level.

I got the impression (maybe wrongly so) that the relationship wasn't very stable to start with, but to threaten to kill him is a little beyond the pale. She also drove about 250 miles into a foreign country, so I doubt if it was a case of "temporarily losing it"-:)

You are totally right. I totally just got busted skimming an article.

Once you cross into that premeditated, 'time to cool off but choosing not to' stage.... eep.
