The water for the flood was in the form of snow on the high hills and mountains and using that same way of telling time the flood was the length of the last ice-age, some 360,000 years rather than 360 days. That it came as rain is important as the oceans have risen about 400 ft in all. Fitting the science to model the weather patterns that far back might show that the Dead Sea was a fresh wahet body of water and the rainfall for the area just happened to be the amount that is in the river in Eze:47. Being that detailed would point to one author would it not? If more examples could be supplied the odds get higher right?

I disagree- Even these links disagree.

What if what you said were false?
Well, if it is false then who cares? Besides, what else you doing? Go on - have a chat with The Holy Spirit. Maybe you could ask Him to shut me up and he would come around to bounce a ham off my head. How is that for incentive?

Aether Island
According to the US Geological Survey.
Quote!
"There is always water in the atmosphere. Clouds are, of course, the most visible manifestation of atmospheric water, but even clear air contains water—water in particles that are too small to be seen. One estimate of the volume of water in the atmosphere at any one time is about 3,100 cubic miles (mi3) or 12,900 cubic kilometers (km3). That may sound like a lot, but it is only about 0.001 percent of the total Earth's water volume of about 332,500,000 mi3 (1,385,000,000 km3), as shown in the table below. If all of the water in the atmosphere rained down at once, it would only cover the globe to a depth of 2.5 centimeters, about 1 inch."

Some flood! Some inch!

Cliffy,
Sorry for your mom as well as your dad.

I could give you an answer, but The Holy Spirit will sink the answer into your heart and mind. Why listen to be blab when you can go to HIm? Ask Him, he is waiting to hear from you. Really ask him the very thing you asked me.
quick question for you cj44; do you believe only Christians have access to the Holy Spirit?

oh and one more...sorry....what is born again, from your perspective?

Why debate the illogical? Should we rather consider why God chose these signs, miracles and happenings that defy human reason? Really, if God is God, I would think Him to have skill sets that we don't. I just think he has some powers that we do not and therefore it is very difficult to believe. Imagine if some dude or dudette showed up on your drive and said, "Hey I'm God". We would probably say something like, "no you're not, and if you are turn this tree into a gorilla". Then when the self annointed god says he can't, we would say - "Hmpff, you're a hack."

I am a Christian.

Now you are wrong with those comments.

You do not ask God to punish.

What type of Christian are you?

Spade does not believe in a Christian God.

What about that do you not understand?

So why do you ask him to ask a Christian God.

It is Christians like yourself that give Christians like me a bad name.

Now go and ask for Gods forgiveness.

Oh yeah and apologize to Spade.

It is the Christian thing to do so.

Is your questions do all Christians have access to the Holy Spirit or do all people have access to Holy Spirit?

I think both, in order to become a Christian, the Holy Spirit comes to a person to bring them to faith in Christ. And also to teach and sanctify people that are already in the faith. I am speaking of the Holy Spirit as defined in the Bible.

Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I see you're comment shows that I responded to someone by posting, "blah blah blah". I do not believe I did post those blah comments.
I just posted my response to Sal.

The post was asking you to reply to Sal, since you did, I deleted the post. Problem with that?

Nope, not a hack. Far from it.

Goober,
Let me better try to communicate what I had said in the previous post.

My comment "If it's false who cares" - I meant if my opinion about the Holy Spirit teaching us all things is false, then what harm is there in seeking the Holy Spirit or in not seeking the Holy Spirit? Would my question matter if the Holy Spirit (as defined by the Bible) actually did not exist. I originally asked the question because I know the Holy Spirit is good, kind, and especially with me patient.

I do not believe I asked God to punish anybody! I made a wisecrack about the Holy Spirit walloping me with a ham. Certainly, I don't think that is His method of operation. Nor, would I ask Him to bust anyone in the chops with hams.

You ask, "why do I ask Spade to ask Christian God". I speak my opinions because this is a faith forum. I assume we are allowed and admonished to share our opinions with each other. Also, being that Spade & I were engaged in conversation,, I assumed and possibly mistakenly thought he wanted my opinion.

As for your question, "What kind of Christian am I"? An imperfect one would be my answer. Also, why would I not want to share the Christian faith with others?

Spade, if I offended you, I am sorry. I see that I should have taken more time to collect my thoughts before typing. My inent was in no way to offend. And my comment about the stupid ham was ridiculous. Though, it would be funny if a ham fell out of the sky tonight and landed on my head.

Goober, I am sorry I upset you and appreciate your comments as they showed me my post could very well be insulting.

The post was asking you to reply to Sal, since you did, I deleted the post. Problem with that?
no problem - I am multi tasking over here and not sure who was and wasn't responding to me.
thanks

First I believe every word of the Bible. Parting of Red Sea, Noah's Flood, Wall of Jericho - All of it. I believe every word. I also stand by my comment that those miracles defy logic. There is no human explanation or reasoning that could prove those events logical. That is to say, those miracles do not happen everyday. They defy the laws of nature, physics etc. Therefore, we should take note and come about to believe that there is a God. He sets Himself apart from the usual.

Now for my dude and dudette comment - God is creator, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. Those miracles attest to his BEING and display that he is Almighty. We should not stand for false gods when we have a loving Creator.

See 1 Kings 18. Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

That is why I suggested to seek The Holy Spirit. As Teacher and Counselor He helps us to learn about God.

As for the Hack comment I made. I am NOT saying that GOD is a hack!

Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. 23 Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. 24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.”

See entire passage in 1 Kings 18. At this point, I dare not give my commentary. In my brillance I would undoubtedly bring up flying hams.

OK with me. I believe in the teachings of Jesus.
as do I

Not that I pretend to understand the twisted logic of your thinking, but you are wrong about the snow. Snow is not mentioned. More than likely, people living in Palestine had no idea what snow was. If they did they would have said so. A more likely explanation of all the flood myths, is much more scientific. During the last ice age the Northern hemisphere was covered with up to a mile and a half of ice. That frozen moisture had to come from somewhere. It has been proved that it came from the oceans which dropped 400 feet. If you look at the world today, you will see that the majority of humanity lives in close proximity to oceans.

During the last ice age, most civilizations lived close to the oceans too, as witnessed by many advanced architectural structures found below the present day sea level. When the ice age ended, the sea levels rose 400 feet over the period of a few thousand years, flooding those civilizations that are now under water. The written word was not put down for several thousand years and are based on old oral traditions. The bible flood myth is no different. It is a rendition of a much more ancient story that was handed down for 7 - 8 thousand years. It is only a shadow of the original story. The authors took a lot of creative license with it, just like all the other accounts in the OT.

I wonder when you quote the OT so often.
Which Genesis do you believe in?

Do you believe that someone who has no belief in God will be saved?

quick question for you cj44; do you believe only Christians have access to the Holy Spirit?

oh and one more...sorry....what is born again, from your perspective?
Sorry, I would have answered this sooner, but my fingers can't keep up. From the looks of it that might be a good thing. Thanks for reminding me Gerryh.

My perspective on born again. Well, my perspective is from what Jesus said in the NT.

John 3
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

I believe to be born again is the working of the Holy Spirit. I think half the "battle" is for a person to know there is a Holy Spirit. To know they are being sought by The Holy Spirit.

it might be funny if he whacked a jew or a muslim with a ham. A christian - not so much.

If he dropped one on my head, i would be most grateful and enjoy every bite.
cliffy!!!!!!

Do you love your neighbour as yourself, as Jesus commanded?

Do you feed the hungry, clothe the naked, comfort the sick, and visit the imprisoned?
No, not always.
