1. Build the Keystone Pipeline.

2. Impose a $1 per gallon "defence fee" on all the crude that flows through it to the U.S.

3. Snicker while the Yanks scream like wounded wildebeests.

Here's a simple question: did we get invaded?

Russia planted a flag in a disputed area of the arctic. If they had done that to an area disputed with the US you think we just would have brushed that off? You can't even get to it to send it back to them, you NEED a military, you NEED it, period, contrary to Canadian popular belief not everybody loves you.

If anyone sees an opportunity to snatch something from you, they will, then we'll see what your position will be.

Coldstream brought to light the difference between capital costs and operating costs.

What position? A deficit-free one?

Here's a simple question: did we get invaded?

Thus your national debt.

We were not really deficit free and certainly not debt free. The deficit was reduced largely by downloading costs onto lower levels of government but it still comes out of the same pocket. Ignoring basic upkeep of your assets is a fools saving.

Double true.

Maybe not in our lifetimes but it is not out of the realm of possibility.

I never said no military. Just not one to defend against a Mars attack. The US military is powerful enough to fend off an intergalactic invasion.

I'm no military strategist, but you have the LONGEST coastline on the face of the earth and your navy is not even in the top ten, whether its in terms of personnel, tonnage, quantity of ships, nothing.

Every other country is, too.

Clearly

Navies don't patrol or defend coastlines as a rule.
