I was in the U.K. a year ago last May for three weeks. It's not true what they say about British cooking. You can get crappy food anywhere of course, but the meals I had in pubs and restaurants and people's homes, and the stuff we were able to prepare ourselves, was as good as anything I've had anywhere. Lots of good fresh ingredients were available everywhere, there were excellent farmers' markets near where we stayed, we ate well, never had a bad meal.

You're coming awfully close to taking the fun out of trolling Blackleaf.

Read between the lines. What he called traditional British fare is the high fat, high salt, high carbohydrate, high cholesterol, badly prepared crappy food you can get anywhere, I just wanted to point out that there are other options, even in the U.K.

Particularly the part where you said "stuff we were able to prepare ourselves". Kind of says it all. Lol.

Blackleaf is correct, the first thing I look forward to everytime I visit the UK is the food.:blob8:
Oddly enough, we had fish and chips prepared at a friends house last night.

Came out of me like thunder less than an hour later.

My body is not accustomed to crappy fried foods.

Not really. He'll say something else that's pompous or silly, and we'll have all the ammo we need to continue.

LOL, no it's not.

Yes, it is. There's nothing to be proud of in Canadian food. It hardly sets the world on fire.

Even if I gave it to you, which I don't (It's origins are Punjabi), Glasgow is Scotland, not England.

The last time I checked Scotland is in Britain. You should have listened more to your geography teacher at school, and so should those numbskulls who green-plussed you.

Yes, we're all quite aware of the British tendency to steal from other cultures, and then call it theirs, lol.

Considering you're a country which stole French and English and are run by a system of government which you copied off the clever British then you're in no position to talk.

Come back when you speak Canadian and when you are run by a system of government which you invented
.
Your asinine list aside. Ummm, OK, I agree, only a foreigner like me with an expanded palate, would call your culturally thieved foods, traditionally bland cuisine, and mockery of anything you're to immature to try, juvenile.

British food: Tasty. And, just as importantly, normal and down-to-Earth.

British Wensleydale cheese. Britain has more cheeses than France.

North American spray on, imitation cheese. Cheese is something that Americans and Canadians just cannot do.
