I doubt your source would know the truth if it jumped up and bit him where his balls used to be.

Whereas there so much honesty on the other side.

It's more than obvious by now how Machiavellian Stephen Harper is, and he was uncharacteristically honest about his intentions to not compromise on Keystone XL just a short while ago. Now the US government is shut down in a face-off between Harper's US counterparts in the GOP and President Obama and one of the few things that the GOP is demanding to make a deal is the very thing Harper said he wouldn't compromise on. It could be a coincidence, or it may be more sleazy maneuvering by a PM that's been leaving a trail of slime behind him for the last seven years at least.

Or it could be because often people with a knowledge of economics know a good deal when they see one. Right now Canada is getting the shaft because of a lack of transportation for oil. Now the best deal for Canada would be a few large refineries right close to the boarder and a few more with deep water access. Of course trying to build anything that might create real jobs is difficult in Canada and especially here in LALA Land where there is a fairly large and very vocal group opposed to any development outside of government services.

I believe in a much higher tech future for Canada based on virtually limitless nuclear power that other nations like China, Russia, India and Norway are busy developing, not sticking with oil at any cost no matter the science. From what I see Harper and those who are supporting him are thinking way too short term and are willing to do pretty much anything possible to the keep the old energy system in place. I think he's a natural fit with the Tea Party mentality and I wouldn't be surprised if he's made a backroom alliance with Obama's declared enemies just to get his oil projects through.

There's a real lack of vision being shown here on a number of levels, mostly by the far right that seems stuck in a past that's gone now.

Looks like Keystone XL and Harper may be part of the GOP actions to close down the US government.

Tom Steyer: Was There ‘Collusion' Between Harper, GOP On Keystone?

Harper did say he wasn't taking no for an answer and the GOP is including Keystone approval as part of a deal to raise the debt ceiling. So this may really be about oil.

You keep on searching for that Grand Cabal...............
Where are the refineries located- In Republican States- Not hard to figure out what is what now is it.

I wouldn't appreciate it if the US openly meddled in our internal politics and I hope Harper isn't meddling in the US. I must admit its hard not to think he is. If so he's a bigger fool than I ever imagined and he needs to go.

Then you are a fool to think this billionaire is.

There's a really good book about this called The Self Made Myth.

Basically most of the wealth comes from common efforts like baseline science and technology development and a few people cream off most of the benefits and create legends about the self-made man to justify it.

And of course by insisting that those who work for them exercise a sacrificial work ethic, even to the point of unpaid overtime. And this whether or not they have ever done a day's middle class work in their lives.

I challenge the relevance of your paragraph above. You cannot lump US blacks and other "non-whites" into the same group. The other non-whites were never owned as slaves and do not form the same demographics as blacks.

I'm curious... which blacks in the US have been owned as slaves?

And where pray tell are we to get this limitless nuclear power. name one place in Canadu that will allow the building of nuclear reactors.
