Saved lives means higher productivity to society. That's a tremendous savings that is not calculated by those who oppose HCR.

For sure, the longer you can keep them alive, the more taxes they are paying! -:)

Sure it does... But pretending that there isn't a cost doesn't make your case.

The money is already out there, it's just getting moved around one more time! -:)

Nothing comes for free. Nowhere did I say there isn't a price to be paid. But now we will save lives thereby increasing social productivity and that's how we recapture the investment we make in the program.

After all, everybody should have coverage just like those who work for the Fortune 500 companies whose medical insurance is subsidized by taxpayers.

I fully agree with you, Gopher, everything worth having (good health & ability to work) comes at a cost, just less cost than the alternative.

The US already spends the highest percentage of it's GDP on health care than anyone else, has the highest rates of cancer, mental health issues, heart disease diabetes and more.

If we are doing it for less, are healthier and are Socialized WTF is wrong with the US and it's privatized system?

But if you folks see it as a conspiracy theory, so be it.

Highlights Of Obama’s Speech To The United Nations

President Barack Obama spoke in front of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. Here are some prominent moments from the president’s address:

  • Begins speech by saying, “It’d be one heck of a relief if the United States didn’t have to be such close allies with Israel. Hi, I’m Barack Obama.”
  • Keeps calling it “Invited Nations”
  • Insists that America is exceptional, but only because it’s an objectively better and more important country than others
  • Gently ribs Sudanese delegate Daffa-Allah Elhag Ali Osman about ongoing genocide
  • Addresses General Assembly in flawless English
  • Takes listeners on a journey of the mind to exotic faraway land of the Middle East
  • Quickly runs through recent White House staff promotions
  • Long overdue admission that the United States overthrew Iran’s former regime, killed Ché Guevara, and staged September 11
  • Announces raffle winners
  • Keeps referring to U.S. in past tense
  • Just kind of trails off at end

Give the guy a break

DaSleeper, if you are saying that to the right wing, you are whistling in the wind. Right and far right have a visceral hatred of Obama. They decided long time ago that he is a Muslim terrorist, a Fascist, a Communist, a Socialist, an illegal alien and so on. He has been compared to Stalin, to Hitler, to practically every dictator imaginable. To my knowledge, no far right columnist has compared him to Mao, but give them time.

So, according to far right everything that happens is Obama’s fault. They started blaming Obama for the economic downturn, even before he took office, right after he was elected (well, perhaps even before that, right wingers were saying that as a candidate, Obama talked the economy down to get elected).

Right and far right has blamed everything on Obama. They haven’t yet blamed the Katrina disaster, assassination attempt on Reagan and dot com meltdown on Obama but again, give them time.

So if your message was directed to right and far right, it is wasted, Obama gets no break as far as they are concerned (their attitude was loudly and proudly proclaimed by the drug addict, Rush Limbaugh, ‘I hope he fails’).

The rest of the population on the other hand, is quite reasonable. They are quite willing to give Obama a chance to show what he can do. He has approval rating around 60%, so most people are either satisfied with the way he is running things or at the very least are withholding judgment.

The right and far right on the other hand, will be satisfied with nothing less that arresting Obama and putting him in prison (or at the very least, deporting him to Kenya or to Indonesia).

Obama is an international war criminal. He's the Drone Warrior bringing death from above nightly to sleeping villagers.

The SOB needs to be extradited to the Hague to stand trial for his crimes. I hope he swings from the gallows.

Sen. Barbara Boxer Claims Obama “Cut The Deficit In Half”, “He Rescued Us!”

Dear Ms. Boxer, “History is history”, as you say, and your Savior Barack Obama tripled the budget deficit.

Via WFB:
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) claimed on Friday that the federal budget deficit has “been cut in half” under Obama.

Budget figures provided by the White House show that the deficit nearly tripled from 2008 to 2009, when Obama took office, and has remained above $1 trillion since then, though 2013 projections are slightly lower.

The country has seen higher budget deficits during every year of Obama’s presidency than it did during any of his predecessor’s eight years in office.

Reuters Poll: Obama’s Approval Rating Craters To Only 39%…

Even worse for Obama, Reuters used a D+10 sample, only 30% of those surveyed were Republicans.

Via All Voices:
As President Barack Obama’s signature Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act enters the all-important sign-up phase next week, the president finds himself with some of the lowest approval ratings of his presidency even as Republicans in an unpopular Congress maneuver to block the health-care legislation from taking effect.

A Reuters-Ipsos poll of 1,729 Americans taken Sept. 20-24 found only 39 percent of those surveyed approve of the job Obama is doing as president, while 55 percent disapprove.

The Reuters-Ipsos poll found that 22 percent of those responding thought the country was headed in the right direction, while 64 percent thought it was on the wrong track.
