VDH is one of my favorites. If you have read his editorials for a number of years it's possible to detect a strain of fatalism over the last year or so. He's a fellow Californian.

Far too soon to tell. At least wait til the guy is out of office. Far too soon for Bush as well. It usually takes a few decades or a full generation before they get a chance to be sized up in a relatively objective way. I agree with Bush Jr. on the legacy question, he'll be long dead before history renders a verdict on what he did.
