Well with any luck Obama won't promise billions for Aids research while there, like his predecessor did.

Obama ought to go by himself, with just one aide, and fly commercial. Maybe he'd be OK.

And if not, two and a half years of Joe Biden as President would be pure comedy gold.

How about Mr. President organize a conference call and apply those funds that would have been spent on the ole family vacation to some small infrastructure works/repairs.

Just think about it, if the admin is cut way down on the $100 MM expenditure, they might even be able to employ 6 or 7 local folks for 6 months or so

With the Sequester problems we're having... perhaps the family should stay home?

How about a teleconference instead?

America doesn't even have enough money to deploy more than two aircraft carriers at a time currently. American bridges are collapsing. Where is the money coming to fund Barack and Michelle's Big Safari to Africa to get in touch with their roots?

it costs 16,000.00 for each Fa 18D super Hornet per hour on the 24 hour air cover.

MY skiled analysis reveals no threat that the Bolivians could not cover for , say, 160.00 per hour Cdn Cash up front.

They do fly the time proven Cl-33..

OK, Botswana Air force for a couple extra bucks. Good Canadian gear- both...
Botswana is my favourite African country. It's the home of the Naugha.

How much did it cost to send Harper to Bilderberg last weekend?

I wonder whether anyone - besides me - suggested this to the G8 or G20 delegates.

Didn't you hear about the fact that America is insolvent in the bankruptcy sense. America doesn't have money to waste on frivolous trips abroad for Obama and his entourage. Uncle Sam is broke.

Would Canada please give Uncle Sam the money for this trip to Africa? We promise to pay Canada back. Canada can use the Brooklyn Bridge as collateral.

Our dollar is backed at about 80% by the US dollar I think. We will sink together, the fights over floatation devices will be horrific. I smell real reality TV.

Why Weren’t Conservatives Upset About The Cost Of Bush’s Two Africa Trips?

President Obama’s travels to Africa are just like those of the two presidents before him: Bill Clinton went in 1998, and George W. Bush went with his family in 2003 (pictured) and again in 2008. Clinton’s trip cost the government around $42.8 million, according to the Government Accountability Office, and the Post doesn’t mention how much Bush’s trips cost — but to give you an idea, a 2003 trip Bush took to London sounds a lot like Obama’s Africa trip.

When Bush went to England in 2003 here’s what the Telegraph reported.

Mr. Bush will be accompanied by a retinue consisting of 250 members of the Secret Service, 150 advisers from the National Security Department, 200 representatives of other government departments and 50 political aides.

There will also be approximately 100 journalists travelling with him. There are also his personal chef, personal assistants, four cooks, medics and the presidential 15-strong sniffer dog team.

The difference between Bush’s trips and Obama’s: Obama canceled the cost-intensive safari.

Bush's flying circus leaves out only the kitchen sink - Telegraph

Tomorrow, President Bush and I leave for what will be my fifth trip to Africa since 2001, and his second trip to Africa since 2001. I've seen the determination of the people across Africa -- and the compassion of the people of the United States of America

Yep. The bad news is the NSA reads all your e-mail.

The good news is the NSA reads all your e-mail.

Poor buggers must be some desperate for reading material.

Do you think they will find the wolf pictures I emailed dangerous? Or the pictures of the private hydro project in northern BC we are working on a threat to US homeland security?

Her name is Michelle and politicians often take family. There is nothing new here. It is not a family trip.

I'll take that as a yes to the second part of the question

Why shouldn't the POTUS's family go along? Is seating that limited in the Limousine?

The topic sounds a little like " four legs good, two legs bad' from animal farm...

Harper's family travels with him sometimes. Bush's did....it's only a problem for some if the guy doing it is a member of the party they don't like. Fortunately their hypocrisy is well known when it comes to stuff like this.

ohhh, they are probably just worried about overloading Air Force One!

Its sort of a ,'strange attitude' for a topic. I could understand " is the trip worth it," but beyond that- Geez- .....
