Northern Ontario,
You know how they say that a leader or a party has a certain amount of political capital (leeway, of a sort).

Well with your incessant whining about Harper and the Conservatives, along with your mind-numbingly repetitive cheerleading for Trudeau and the Liberals, you've expended all your capital. So even when a juicy thing like the Duffy fiasco comes up, people turn you off because they're tired of hearing the same old stuff from you.

There isn't a single thing you say that can't be accurately predicted before reading what you write.[/QUOTE]
So true with all ideologues.....

and why don't we demand that they be persecuted...if we did that a few times they would be far more leery about just grabbing from the table and running, so why don't we?

what about that senator that used public funds and was drinking orange juice at 16.00 a glass, she just fell off the radar but she is a crook, it's disheartening

Persecuted or prosecuted? -:) I guess the $16 orange juice is "small potatoes" by comparison, but yes, she obviously has an attitude. I would suggest ANYONE staying at the Savoy on the public purse has an attitude.

haaaaaaaaaaaa, good catch. lmao.... Freudian slip....my bad....

“Through Bev’s leadership, Canada has also met, ahead of schedule, its commitment to double aid to Africa. This is a record to be proud of,”
Harper said in a statement.
pfffft...Harper the serious... idiot

Oda, first elected to Parliament in 2004, came under attack from the opposition after it emerged that she had upgraded from a five-star hotel to an even pricier one while attending a conference in London last year.

Her travel expenses also included a 3,000 dollar limousine charge, but what seemed to resonate most with the public was a 16 dollar orange juice at taxpayers’ expense.

Under pressure, Oda paid the extra expenses out of her own pocket.

No, no I totally agree with "persecute", but I just had a hunch you meant "prosecute". A couple of days in the stocks at Portage and Main mid January would smarten them up. -:)

agreed I want the glass to be half full but these c suckers drink it all

and then I hear people whining about welfare mums, and drug addicts and street kids because they are all just scum sucking off of the public *** and taking tax money, like I am supposed to accept that some guy in a suit that steals millions is way more deserving of my tax dollars...because he is strong and the others are weak...because they have zero understanding of psychology and human behavior and weakness is to be shunned not helped...

I am sick of it.

there would be enough money to have a wonderful medical system, and a great safety net if they didn't drain the glass all the time and then wring their collective hands and whine incessantly about the economy while supporting the big industries who now suck off the public *** as well...'cause they own them

Why do you think partisanship is so strongly encouraged by those in power? Because it keeps the level of "conversation" (and I do use that word very loosely) on the more mundane and completely superficial aspects and prevents people, most people, from really digging deeper. Because you can't even hear yourself over the din they cause.

Beyond those who bitch and moan about the welfare mums or street kids that you've alluded too (and yes, there are those that will always bitch and moan about that) the predominant problem, as I see it, are those who absolutely refuse to even acknowledge any wrong doing except on the part of those for whom their hatred is focused. It's stupidity at it's finest, it's short sighted and it absolutely allows the cycle to continue from one parties government to the next.

How in the hell can we actually hold any government to account when we all seem to be spending our time fighting against those who are hell bent for leather that it's a one sided problem?

It makes you wonder if there's a manual provided to all conservative MPs and Senators on how to avoid taking any responsibility for their elected and appointed positions...kind of like the memo that was circulated among the conservative caucus during the early years of the current conservative government on how to shut down Parliament.

There's really something wrong when any party acts as if Parliament is the enemy that must be defeated at any cost. In a sense all Canadians are the Parliament as the members we elect represent us there. By constantly attacking the free functioning of Parliament the conservative government is in fact attacking all of us.

We have a resignation and the money was paid back.

With the adscam, there were 17 of 19 Liberal MPs in PQ that received dirty money to their ridings. The courts protected them from being named. There were 0 resignations and 0 money returned.

Eventually Nigel will tell the truth about the corrupt federal government we now enjoy.

If the Conservatives really wanted better government then they should have a leadership convention and get rid of the iron fist we call Harper

All Canadian Senators are paid a basic salary of $135,200.00 plus expenses. Duffy was fighting sanctions for claimed expenses in excess of $90,000.00 which is far more than the average Canadian makes in a year. Wallin put in for travel expenses of $320,000.00
over three years. Our senators are only sitting about 90 days a year. How in hell can these porkers justify this kind of money for expenses? The asnswer? They can't..........That is why there is an audit..

Yep, they are getting too corrupt for my liking, but what choice do we have? Liberals are even worse $hundred of millions were lost in the sponsorship scandal and with the N.D.P. there is no incentive for a working man to even get off his A$$- may as well go on welfare. Greens are a one horse show. Maybe Rhinoceros is the answer.

The root of the problem of course is these people get an inflated opinion of their own self worth and once that happens there is no limit to the money they feel entitled too. (In Pamela Wallin's case $hundreds of thousands) It's criminal is what it is. She is taking enough money for herself to substantially help hundreds of people.

Actually for the most part they have a vastly inflated opinion of themselves prior to entering politics. that is the main reason that politicians claim there is no such thing as bad publicity. They simply like to see their picture in the paper. Probably why there are so many lawyers and used car salesmen in politics.

I voted for the pirate party last time because our local candidate was the only one of the bunch that told the truth. Also I was sure the Conservative would win by a big margin so I could afford to waste a vote.

I'd like to see the proof that an NDP gov would result in 'no incentive for a working man to get off his A$$'.

The Greens have been outed as a CONsevative group that was formed to siphon votes away from the NDP.

I will vote for whatever party eliminates the 'temporary worker program' bullcrap.

And staying with Duffy, I'm thinking he got that $90 thou, and likely lots more because as he claimed, he knows many secrets and wants to be paid to not speak.........

I don't understand why politics is a shield. In any other crime it is chargeable if one does not volunteer what one knows when a crime has been committed. Is he not then complicit? How did we get this bad? How do we fix this?

It is puzzling why these people never get charged but to answer how do we fix this, well we will never fix all of it but a new direction with dedication to the results favouring the masses is needed.

Politics can a very dirty biz and it all starts with one person at the top who either craves power, money, fame, likeabilty etc., or worse, all at the same time.

There is also insecurities amongst these people and, if they are courted by people who make them feel good and secure they will support their cause(s).

Take the CONS under Harper. He makes UNemployment Ins harder to obtain, makes the length of time one can collect it for shorter, eliminates most of the re-training programs, then says if you are UNemployed for 6 months you have to take a job up to 30% less than your previous wages all the time allowing Companies to hire foreigners on Temporary programs in at who knows how low of a wage which still makes your 30% less too costly compared to these Foreign Temps.

He is satisfying the people who make him feel good such as those at the Frasier Institute who are backed by foreign corporates such as the Koch Brothers.

It's Maslows Theories in action.

So what's the solution?

We need a new direction that will have those same qualities to an extent but who will fight for the masses first, and not just special interest groups like the Frasier Inst et all..............
