That's just your perception. A baseless one at that.
I perceive my fingers typing at the keyboard. Must be a mirage, right? Fec-kin clown.
Karma Man just stopped in.

Nope. Just perceived obstacles.
We all face obstacles.
lol We all have the same amount of obstacles? Riiiiiiiiight.
You keep telling yourself that.
Reading is easy. Reading weird usage of English is a little tougher. Is reading is not your strength?
lol What was that about reading?I don't have to. It's pretty evident when you agree with what I say.
You keep telling yourself that.I don't have to. It's pretty evident when you agree with what I say.

You keep telling yourself that.
Specifically, I don't agree with what you're saying this time. I think you are either hopelessly delusional, or a bigot.
Your pick.
Well, just this once.Cannuck- You just hate it when I give a green after you give a red.
Where did you set the Shxts and Giggles.
Could a member pick both?
Well, just this once.
Specifically, I don't agree with what you're saying this time. I think you are either hopelessly delusional, or a bigot.
Your pick.
I was wondering how long it would be before somebody hauled out the oft overused "bigot" or "racist". Perhaps if you didn't contradict yourself you wouldn't feel the need to throw out slurs in some feeble attempt to defend yourself.
Looks like he chose "delusional".You keep telling yourself that.

First, being slaughtered, driven out of your homes, and then systematically discriminated against, legally, economically, and socially, has cultural consequences that last for generations. It doesn't all magically vanish the moment you achieve legal equality.
The fact that I, and some other members of racial minorities and women, have achieved a reasonable level of success does not prove that it is no harder for minorities than for whites. The simple fact is that the cultural, social, legal, and economic dominance of whites makes it easier for them to succeed.
Yep. Throwing tennis balls at a tank. Not surprised, but you can't say I didn't try.I'm sure for you it doesn't....or does it....you can't seem to make up your mind.
The fact that you are a woman or a racial minority is of no consequence to me. Only seems to matter to you and to people like you that wish to use it as a crutch. I have three daughters. They do not believe for one second that their gender affects their ability to achieve success. I know it is difficult for you to accept but you are just making excuses. It is that mentality that maintains the vicious circle.
Yep. Throwing tennis balls at a tank. Not surprised, but you can't say I didn't try.
I wouldn't say you were throwing tennis balls at a tank. You simply misunderstood what I said. The fact that you said "As it happens, my race doesn't prevent me from doing what I choose to do." backed up my point quite nicely.
Don't worry, if the Canadians ever find themselves confronted by a group of primitive dark people armed with spears and sharp pieces of dried fruit all they have to do is ask the British for advice. The British used to have lots of experience of things like that.
No, actually it didn't. You are arguing by anecdote, saying that a single example of success proves that the burdens of Indians are no different from the burdens on whites. This is the equivalent of saying "Bill Gates is a billionaire, which proves that everybody can be billionaires."
Horse sh*t. The fact that an obstacle can be overcome doesn't mean it's not real. What I have said is that the obstacles are "perceived". You have admitted that you did not allow these to affect you so they obviously are not "real" obstacles.
Clearly. Now, I may be misreading you.
They affected the hell out of me. I was lucky and determined, and I got a lot of help getting over them. Help I try to pay forward. And I do it mostly among the Shawnees because I understand from the inside what obstacles they face. Which you don't.Perhaps you just think you are better than everybody else and the "real" obstacles just don't affect you like other people.

I don't contradict myself, though if you'd care to point out where you think I do, I'd be willing to explain it to you.
You and I usually get along OK, Cannuck, so I'm willing to cut you some slack on this one. But there's a few things you need to know, so I'll put them out there. You can take them on board or not. Up to you.
First, being slaughtered, driven out of your homes, and then systematically discriminated against, legally, economically, and socially, has cultural consequences that last for generations. It doesn't all magically vanish the moment you achieve legal equality.
Second, there are probably just as many native racists as there are white racists (same applies for blacks, Asians, Francophones, and what have you). The difference is that minority groups are rarely in a position to back up their racism with discrimination. Whites, unfortunately, are frequently in a position to do so.
The accumulated wealth and sociocultural power of whites on Turtle Island is based on a long, long period of time when non-whites (and women) weren't allowed to play the game on an even basis. It takes time to catch up. To use an analogy from sports, it's a bit like giving one team the best in modern equipment, medical treatment, and training techniques for years, and then giving the second team the same advantages three weeks into the season.
The fact that I, and some other members of racial minorities and women, have achieved a reasonable level of success does not prove that it is no harder for minorities than for whites. The simple fact is that the cultural, social, legal, and economic dominance of whites makes it easier for them to succeed.
I offer no excuses, to you or anyone else. And I spend a hell of a lot of money and time telling Shawnee kids to reject the Shemanese "help" and cut their own roads. I'm a firm believer in doing away with any sort of special program or advantage.
But I faced plenty of obstacles, cultural and personal, based on the fact that I'm an Indian that you never faced. I'm not asking for any apology, and I have avoided and refused any special "help" since I was 13. But that doesn't mean the extra obstacles don't exist. It just means I don't agree with the standard liberal way of trying to "cure" them.
