We woke up to a foot of snow here yesterday after an overnight blizzard of heavy snow. Today it's not warm enough to melt much and it's turning gray with flurries. It will be grey and 0 degrees for the next week.

I know all about sump pumps. We just don't have one here.

They go haywire when editing.

Do you have a basement or slab?

Our house is a split level. One side is a sort of half basement but it is alll above the water table. We hope that is a permanent
situation..

If you've made it through X amount of coastal deluges called winter, you should be okay. LOL We have full basement s here, mine is at least 7ft down.

Mine's a full basement, but only 4ft in the ground. The sump is plumbed into the
city sewer system though....& the infrastructure has become questionable in
recent years. Some of the summer storms fill the sewers, & the pump doesn't
have enough umph to pump it past the pressure in the city lines. This'll be an
interesting Spring.

I scored a sewer stormwater backflow preventer box from the city when they were freebies years ago. I think it was mandatory because of the basement bathroom.

We had two storm days this week. Not very productive! Hoping that is the last of the winter weather. Seven day Environment Canada forecast calls for daytime highs between 1 and 3 °C.

Just running out'a places to put the white stuff, is all. have you seen the city
snow dump lately? There's going to be snow there in late August still, I bet.

We had a very light dusting of snow back in Nov. It was gone the very next day. I'll be very glad if that turns out
to be the extent of our Winter. have spent part of my life in colder climes but I have no desire to go back to shoveling drivways.

won't help, I'm Canadian...we have a right to whine about the weather all year long :canada:
I'm Earthian. I take each day as it comes. Life is too short to whine.
Southern Ontario is not just hot. It is humid and that sucks the big one. One of the reasons I left Montreal for Lotus Land.
