Oh, yeah! And when was the last time you saw the elderly going on a rampage destroying houses? Do you think all youth are outdoing the old folks? Most elderly I know understand values, oh yeah, and when in school we learned how to spell! -
Oh, that must be why our population is on the decline!

Just because they haven't dosen't mean they don't want to it just means gravity has caught up and they can't. The guys I hang around with would love to but various geriatric debilities (usually a wife) prevent them from enjoying youthful activities.

Sad but true: I've come across that attitude from some parents. And they extend that attitude even to teaching values. It's all the teacher's job because the parents pay taxes and the parents have no responsibility whatsoever. Sad attitude to have for parents.

When I was young, I would not have dared even the possible risk of having things get out of hand. My dad was strict!

Perhaps even too strict. Strange as it may sound, i still fear him today, for no logical reason. Just an irrational fear. It has certainly affected our relationship to the extent that our relationship is almost diplomatic and cordial on my part than a real father son relationship. However, it seems some parents have gone too far in the opposite direction too. There is a happy medium of teaching kids respect none-the-less.

Thank God for alcohol taxes. I sure don't want to pay for their medicare!

Don't get me wrong: I don't mind my taxes helping others; that's just human compassion for others. But wehn they're ruining their health like that?! That's self-inflicted. No thanks. And again, they probably have that attitude that that's why they pay taxes: a license to not give a damn about their health.

I went to publicly funded schools that taught morals. I'm a fine law abridging citizen.

I'm not saying public schools can't teach morals. I'm just saying that it helps if the parents reinforce it too. The school can teach morality all it wants, but if the parent can't care less, it's not as effective. There is only so much teachers can do if the parents can't lift a finger.

There was a time when I believed setting a good example was paramount, but I'm not sure about that any more!
