Sun TV Launches Do Or Die CRTC Application And You Can Help

OTTAWA - Sun News Network has made what it calls a "do or die" application to the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to be put on basic cable, just like its main competitors.

"We are asking for the same type of licence that CTV and CBC had for 13 and 21 years respectively for their news channels," said Kory Teneycke, vice-president of Sun News.

"We think this is a reasonable request and that it is in the interests of all Canadians."

Sun is launching a web site dedicated to this effort, Canadian TV First, it'll be live shortly with information on how you can help. Below is a copy of the Sun CRTC application.

Do they have enough viewers?

More importantly do they have to ability to cover the entire nation like CTV or CBC? If a bomb goes off in Lethbridge they can have somebody there as fast as CBC or CTV to cover it?

My vote would be to do away with bundled programming. I hate paying for channels that I never watch. Especially ones that are not in English.

If you watch them long enough you will learn Mandarin or Punjabi. Watching hockey in French saved my *** in highschool.

Commercial free!

I wonder how big of a tax credit Sun would get from moving up a level? 1/4 $Billion a year?

If they had a bigger audience maybe they could fund themselves with higher paying ads instead of Swiffer and Febreeze ads.
