This only proves yet again that some native band leaders line their pockets before they share with the rest of their people which is a kick in the teeth of Mother Earth which means no matter how many feathers they have won’t help them

Hither and yon
When the Idle No More movement began to attract media attention I believed the oft reported tale that the movement was a spontanious result
of some general ideas put forward by a group of female aboriginal students.
Suuuuure it was.
Palmela Palmater, a founding member and driving force of "Idle No More" has a PhD from Dalhousie (courtesy of Canadian taxpayers), she holds the chair for Indegenous Governance at Ryerson (the department once again funded by whitey taxpayers), is a practing lawyer (more taxpayer funded education) and is a well known aboriginal politician.
She just happened to come in second place in the Grand Chief election.
Shaun Atleo won that election and rumour on the street has it Palmela hates Shaun for beating her out for the top job.
Idle No More looks very much like a serious attempt to completely end run the legitimate governance of Grand Chief Shaun Atleo by opening a second front against whitey and then making the Grand Chiefs look both reduntant and irrelevent.
Its pure politics and its all about power and money.
The co-opted Rabble Babble moonbats and the greeny tree huggers are nothing but catspaws in a high stakes internal political game within First Nations.
And Spence?
Lets not even talk about her anymore.

As always, the nightmare continues.

The final nail in the coffin of putting your faith in anything that leads people.

And people wonder why The Idol No More people and the Occupy Wall Street movements exist.

Now that being said , how many of you are going to vote for any of the Canadian governing parties.
Do you have as much faith in them as people do in Chief Spence.

Have fun with that.

Just wondering why, as you seem to speak for the movement, you don't spell its name correctly, and why are you capitalizing the 't' in the? It is Idle No More - I googled it.

wow This thread's still going? Sure a lot of importance being attached to "Chief" Spence.

It's like watching a soap opera, LG. Opinions on the audit are all over the map. Spence has now kicked out the media - or I should say CTV - not sure about the other networks or paper media. Blame enough on all sides of this. What a schmozzle. Got a look at the Chief today, she seems to managing her diet of fish and moose soup well.

Perhaps I'm over simplifying things by saying the problem at Attawapiskat was caused by someone spending a pisspot full of money over several years without getting or keeping receipts! Isn't that lesson one in Business 1?

SThe Post is also now reporting a Judge who is blasting the Ontario provincial government for not using the police to enforce "rule of law" with the " Idle All the Time" protestors.
Looks like Stevie had Spence figured out from the get go.
Good. Let a few of real Idle No More hardcores who want to get arrested to get into court to expose the myriad of corruption and sometimes connected crooks nation wide and get their complaints and any evidence on record.

It's time to get rid of the current Rez political system and make them each Constiuencies with MPs in the House in Ottawa and MLAs or MPPs in Provincial and Territorial Houses and Muncipal Offices and run in the same gaddam system that has been running for 145 years in Canada

Jesus H Christ! Enough with e bloody circle jerks already! FFS!

Yep, absolutely, with all the different, various, levels of Gov't over a multitude of various jurisdictions what we have is "too many chiefs and not enough Indians"!

But Spence herself was under fire Monday amid fresh questions about how her troubled northern Ontario reserve has been spending and accounting for millions in federal funding.
Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development released a scathing independent audit Monday that catalogues poorly documented, undocumented or questionable spending in Attawapiskat over almost seven years.

This isn't about that. Look over there! Where the Fish Broth and Koolaid is being drunk. This is about aboriginal rights, not the squandering of money by a Chief or the subsequent attempt to distract from that.

The two go hand in hand, where there's rights there's responsibility!

I tend to separate the two subjects. I don't think the Idle no More movement is about solidarity with Spence but about more pressing issues to do with treaty neglect and broken promises. I think they should distance themselves from her. She is carrying too much bagage to do their cause any good.
The next problem would be to counter the BS coming from the media. They are trying to make the movement look like it has no legitimacy, no real platform, just like they did with OWS. One thing for certain, if you protest the establishment, you will be demonized and eventually treated to brutality.

The founders of the "Idle No More" thing have been try'n to distance themselves
from her (& all the other Chief's jumping on the band wagon) for some time now:

You can also add that Canadians want accountability- not only from FN Peoples and funds spent but the Feds on funding as well.
The more I read the more I think Spence is a boat anchor and should be tossed aside.

I think the chiefs and councils are a major part of the problem. But Aboriginal Affairs has too much control over the lives of the people and reserves. I like the idea that each reserve should be a municipality although there is a lot of regulation on municipalities too, but no where near as much as on the reserves. Hard to tell what the real problem is when there is so much disinformation flying around. Unfortunately , there is no reserve in this area to get first hand info on the native perspective. Our "extinct" people have too many other concerns at the moment to comment.
