Ok...are we talking individual towns or actual statistics.....?I read the local paper three times a week. How much of it do you think is drug related? I'd guess half of that is grow ops.
We stole their identity, we stole their culture, their land, their children. We raped and murdered their children all in the name of integrating them and when they tried to integrate, we treated them as outcasts, a sub-species of the human race. Look into the hell that was the residential schools. The Papal Bulls of the late 1400s declared that native people, not being mentioned in the bible, were not human and it was perfectly OK for Christians to kill them, steal their land and enslave them. For the last 50 years they have petitioned the Vatican to revoke those Papal Bulls but so far the notion has been rejected. That mentality is still alive today among the general population. You wonder why there is an aboriginal crisis in the cities. Don't look much farther than your own nose. They can't fix it on their own...they've had 136 years since the last serious legislation. Our legislation means nothing. Either they integrate, or they die. The Scots have their culture within Canadian culture, the Brits, The Irish, the Muslims, the Hindus (as religions), the Spanish.....My best friend is a Dutchman....he knows his culture...but he's still a Canadian. They must integrate....it's not a choice anymore...
Grow ops have moved to smaller town because it is too risky in the big cities.Ok...are we talking individual towns or actual statistics.....?
Statistics (and logic) show that the more people you have in one place, the more crime you have. But! ( and here's the upside!) The more people you have, the more creation you have. The more debate you have, the more strength, defence and overall advancement you have.
So, are we talking cities? Or small towns that are mostly dying and used and the modern day "posts" for drugs?
It's 2013 Cliffy. If you want to be that way I can say the English stole my culture as well as anybody else who isn't English. You can wear that hat if you want but not me. No way no ****ing how.We stole their identity, we stole their culture, their land, their children. I'm not asking you to wear any hat. I'm trying to explain why there is a crisis. Many of the parents living today are a product of that era. The problem won't get fixed in just one generation. It's 2013 Cliffy. If you want to be that way I can say the English stole my culture as well as anybody else who isn't English. Malarky. Who is still parenting that was around in the 1800's?Many of the parents living today are a product of that era. The problem won't get fixed in just one generation.

The last residential school closed in 1984. Yes the crisis is internal but was caused by external forces. I know mothers who could not even hug their own children. They were deprived of any kind of nurturing in those schools and are suffering from an emotional disconnect. Their children, though they have not been to residential schools, are suffering from the same problem.Malarky. Who is still parenting that was around in the 1800's?
The crisis is internal.
The notion that she had tried to block the auditors from trying to unravel the details speaks volumes.. Generally speaking, those are the actions of someone that has a skeleton in the closet on the issue
We've been a full on independant of the Crown Country since 1982.That is exactly what Ifelt. Why did Sharon Venne leave BillC-27 First Nations Financial Transparency Act (she called it on the video financial accountability) as the last item to review and not even expandon the issue. She is hiding something.

AS per Venne Canada is not considered a country by the United Nations and is considered a "false state of Britain", which means First Nations Canadians own the land.So if I was born in Canada (even though I am of Russian, German, Austrian, and Mongoliandecent) am I not a First Nations Citizen - even if this land has no counrty status?
Who are the bigots gerryh? Not that it will sink in or be understood by the bigots.

Ok, the first half could apply to every European nation. As for slavery....the natives had slaves....If you want to talk about a downtrodden people, talk about African Americans. Even Aboriginals had black slaves....so why do the slave owners deserve more because they have "treaties"?We stole their identity, we stole their culture, their land, their children. Beating drums and smudging are not just traditions. They are cultural and spiritual. They are part of their identity. Very few Canadian aboriginal people lost a war. Most were conned into signing treaties that were broken many times over. They were given the crappiest land in their territory for their reservations and if that land later turned out to be valuable to governments or corporations, those reserves were taken away and they were placed on even crappier land.
Canada was built by exploiting the resources it stole from the aboriginal people and treaty payments are nothing more than a fraction of the value of those resources extracted.
To be completely fair...the Iroquois and Mohicans among others were quite prodigious. As well, they had a system of democracy and many thousands of people per tribe (particularly throughout the original thirteen states). However, they were all wiped out, and like you said, had very little knowledge of the resources at hand.Cliffy that is ridiculous. North America was found with almost no people. A few hundred thousand natives couldn't possibly govern or even understand the size of the continent. Resources? even the Europeans couldn't know what resources there were, other than trapping, timber, and the more obvious mining opportunities that weren't exploited for decades. Living with Europeans was a mean, cultural shock for the indiginous aboriginals to face.
You really don't know your history. May I suggest 1491, America before Columbus. It is based on the latest archaeological findings. In 1491 there were between 90 and 110 million people in the Americas. 90% died within the first 100 years of contact.Cliffy that is ridiculous. North America was found with almost no people. I still hold on to parts of my culture from E Europe but I'm not going to revert to the oxen and plow for nostalgia's sake.However....The culture no longer exists. So why are we defending a culture which no longer exists and causes hardship?
Go for it ... if you're really into sheep. When was the last time you sheared one?I can prove my family raised sheep in Colonsay...Should Britain compensate me for the sheep which are no longer there?
