Wow! Just Wow. Yes, a lot of city Indians are having an identity crisis. I am painfully aware of that. Go out and see what is happening with the Idle no More movement. Go visit some reserves, not ones like Hobema where oil money has corrupted everybody. I have been on a lot of reserves and I have been on the board of directors of Native Friendship centers. I have been in ceremony with thousands of aboriginal people. You are only seeing that nasty part of things, the fall out from the residential schools.
I highly doubt the 19 yr old I grabbed from jumping off the fourth avenue fly-over was a residential school victim.

If you want to see victimization come talk to a 15 year old girl who was put out on the streets by her brother. I doubt either of them went to residential school or had a parent that did.

Also...what is a native friendship center?
It is a cultural center, a drop in center and a place where people of every persuasion can meet and mingle and get to know each other. Promotes respect and understanding within various cultures. Quesnel has one where Hindus, Sikhs, aboriginals and any other group could go and educate each other about our shared similarities. It also promoted a cultural identity for the aboriginal people displaced by resource extraction.

Sounds Like you have been handling the crappy end of the stick for too long. You should visit the other end to get some perspective.

Let's all agree to disagree for now....

So what do we do to change it? We all know there's an issue...what do we do...

You've been in the woods for too long Cliffy.
You think I should come to the city? I would end up being in an identity crisis in days. Cities are hell to me. I avoid them like the plague. I can understand why there is so much crap going on there. It is a breeding ground of crap.

Cops can only act on a complaint. There are idle No More people who want to get busted for stopping traffic and trains so they can have their complaints on record given directly to the powers that be.

If the speak up any other way they aren't heard or will disappear into a shallow grave.

I find it absolutely hillarious that you would say that when it is cities, and particularly the bourgeoisie that created your lifestyle. Furthermore, cities breed more thought, more creative design and more change than ANYTHING a simple farmer could EVER do. So please, change things while you raise chickens. I'll change things as a cosmopolitan who lives with those you assume to know better for.

Then It might be a good idea to kick back and listen to those on the frontlines in the city. The small towns are just as bad on the prairie...you won't be safe were you are now for much longer.

Hey, I farm near a town called Kamsack and live in the city. Things are just as bad in the rural. The gang bangers call it "Slamsack" because the IV drug use is off the charts.

You're dead right there Cliffy. Why would people think the majority of cops are stationed in cities? Because that's where the trouble is, duh!

We created this crisis by trying to make them like us or isolating them on reserves. Most Canadians still have that mentality. We cannot fix it because we are the cause. We have to allow them to find their own way. The best we can do is to treat them like human beings and stop looking down on them like they are some kind of disease.

Really? I could give you a tour of Armstrong/Enderby and Spallumcheen. You'd **** your pants if you knew half of what is going on around you.

They can't fix it on their own...they've had 136 years since the last serious legislation. Our legislation means nothing. Either they integrate, or they die. The Scots have their culture within Canadian culture, the Brits, The Irish, the Muslims, the Hindus (as religions), the Spanish.....My best friend is a Dutchman....he knows his culture...but he's still a Canadian. They must integrate....it's not a choice anymore...

Or maybe that's where the majority of people in this country live...?

No no no man. The only person that can pull up your socks and get you off your *** is you.

Maybe their leadership should do that instead of dealing drugs, running hookers and running grow houses that should have families in them.

Then maybe they'd have socks to pull up.

I read the local paper three times a week. How much of it do you think is drug related? I'd guess half of that is grow ops.
