No, LG, you are quite welcome to take off all of your clothes and howl at the moon on the winter solstice, in your own private Stonehenge.. or however your New Age rituals work.. but you are not entitled to do that in my living room. :)

Celebrating winter solstice is a pagan ritual much older than christianity. Nothing new age about it.

She is a crooked skank that never should have been elected. She could also stand to lose some weight.........
Didn't your mother teach you not to make fun of someone's weight or size, it is very rude.
lol Guess I can take over your house and teach your kids Taoism or Hinduism then. Cool.
I already taught them along with a few other religions. They can make up their own minds which one to follow if any. ;-)
What does that have to do with the stewardship the First Nations have shouldered?
Stewardship of what? And who asked them to be stewards over anything in the first place?
I agree. But you still have to pay for it, it's all in the contracts.
You show me where I signed and I will honor your contract.
So that should negate the contracts?
The fact that it is unlawful to force a contract on someone who isn't a party to it should negate any contract.

Better rethink that last one. IT could have serious repercussions in business if you had your way. Real simple example: You buy a car and get it financed by slippery sams car loans. You got a contract but good ole Sam sells your loan to Rust Pimps R US and they decide to up your interest rate. According to you this would be legal because you don't have a contract with them.

I think you misunderstand. I don't have a contract with Rust Pimps R Us so I wouldn't pay them a penny. They cannot force me to pay because my contract was with Slippery Sam. They can up the interest all they want but I just got a free car.

Stewardship of what?
The Mother.

And who asked them to be stewards over anything in the first place?
Doesn't matter. It's a job that needs to be done.

You show me where I signed and I will honor your contract.
Doesn't matter. You don't sign a contract with the grocery store when you buy groceries, but you are entering a contract in the eyes of the law (Contractual that is).

By utilizing the benefits that have been afforded you by said contracts, you voluntarily entered the contract.

You're welcome. Enjoy.

The fact that it is unlawful to force a contract on someone who isn't a party to it should negate any contract.
The fact that you don't don't much at all about contractual law, negates any opinion you have about contracts.

You better take a course in contract law before you make such silly statements.

We are headed for massive civil strife in Canada between the Govt and First Nations.

Possibly true. But many are like nick. Not well versed in contract law and tired of paying through the nose for something they have no control over, don't understand and see no end to.

I think the vast majority of First Nations are tired and fed up with the corruption - the leaders taking care of themselves - and the Govts inaction on a number of issues.

I agree. Near as I can tell my DIL's band doesn't have a problem with corruption, or at least no more than any small municipality but their lands claims are moving a little slower than the glacier behind them. I blame white lawyers working for both sides.
I view chief Spence as little more than a spoilt brat throwing a temper tantrum. Her cause may be just but that is not how adults conduct business. The lefty media is swallowing her BS hook, line and sinker though.

I'm reminded of G&M editor John Stackouse's comment- he called reserves 'bantustans' meaning as crooked as the day is long.

The status quo is so much easier to deal with.

Wow, hindered by ignorance and he still managed to become an editor?

Must have been nepotism.

You better take a course in contract law before you make such silly statements.
That bears repeating. I've only told him the same thing a dozen times.

IIRC the quote is from the book Timbit Nation which he wrote after hitchhiking Canada from Sea to Sea-literally.

So he's an accomplished individual as well as an outstanding writer.

Or it may have been from a series of articles he wrote after the trip which were all about the various reserves he visited along the way-many places few have ever heard of.

Sorry to interject some real life experience here instead of the usual fuzzy wuzzy goody goody CBC Bee Ess we get from apologists like you.

The fact is that the public perception of the native situation is changing-we think they should learn to stand on their own two feet and walk under their own steam.

The abject failure of the Idle No More movement to attract more than a few hundred people to their b!tchfest downtown the other day is proof that few give a sh!t anymore-even other natives.

Note that I live in what's popularly called one of the largest reserves in Canada-Metro Vancouver has all kinds of different natives who've had enough/moved off the reserve and got on with their lives.

Does anyone know how much coin Spence rakes in as chief? Including freebee holidays disguised as conferences in vacation hot spots.

That means squat.

So he's an accomplished individual as well as an outstanding writer.
And quite apt at generalizations, not unlike yourself.

LOL, like I just said.

You should probably learn to read.

The fact is that the public perception of the native situation is changing-we think they should learn to stand on their own two feet and walk under their own steam.
For the most part, I agree, which is why I just finished laughing at your silly accusation.

Learn more and speak direct to those who are taking action here: Idle No More
Although I agree with the message, I do disagree with a few points in that article...

1, There are national venues she can address her concerns at.
2, It's a form of bullying.
3, Canada didn't have a history of colonialism.
4, She's not offering a bridge for all Canadians to move forward, she making a self serving sensation.
5, She doesn't speak for me, my family or many of our FN friends and family, let alone all Native youth.
