The first order in mental health review should be to have the heads examined of anyone attempting to purchase an assault rifle.
lol Yet another laugh.
Remember the incident in Merritt when Schoenborn killed his kids? Treating the guy in the first place would likely have prevented him from doing that. Banning knives would only have driven him to strangle them or use a different weapon. Put that square peg in your round hole.

and I'm not sure why some of you gun lovers can't understand that if there were no guns then there would be no gun deaths, period.

BUT, Ger, there would be more other causes of death, whether by bomb, hatchet or boomerang!

Oh yes, I know. A gun is a very innocuous weapon. There are many far more lethal weapons that an individual could use to wreak havoc.

I don't think the facts are at all understood in this latest anonymous mass murder. I do think the event drives an agenda bent on suspension of civil rights prior to eventual and necessary martial law. Certain elements want to cut costs and run an efficient concentration camp system without constant interruption from free citizens. Guns don't kill people bullets do.

Yep. Inside of a half hour I could build a weapon that could probably level the town mall here.
Wife is very adept at Aikido and could probably cause many deaths in that same mall with the bushwhacker we use to kill chickens.

another specious argument. When one can not support their side of an argument they throw in things that are in no way related to the topic at hand. The reason it doesn't taste like an apple, is because it's an orange.

Yep, neat little stuff like cyanide, stricnine and anthrax.

of course, the average joe would be able to get a hold of those things without a problem, right?

Probably not for the anthrax, but for the other two I would say yes. For the anthrax it would probably depend on how much money you want to shell out. (We are only 4 or 5 person links away from contacting anyone on earth)

so, strychnine and cyanide are available to the general public in large enough quantities to kill in the dozens or more?

Only 10% of the 10% with acute mental health disorders are diagnosed and treated. If you want to see a major change in our society, the other 90% of the 10% would need to be treated.

The treatment and medication afforded the majority of these mass shooters seemed to have contributed or caused the attacks rather than prevented them. I think we're dealing with professionally planned attacks rather than random nut cases getting off and away.

I imagine it could be saved up over time. Those are just examples, antifreeze works too. Brake fluid too, apparently!

So, now you are comparing a very elaborate poisoning plan to an off the cuff, last minute decision to grab a gun and ammo and go on a killing spree.

All seem to have been planned well in advance......

Perhaps they wouldn't have been planned well in advance if there were no guns around.
Seems like there is no logical debating with an illogical mind.

Dead is dead, Gerry, does it matter how you get there?

To some people, Yes, it DOES make a difference.

NRA says the good people with guns must protect the people from the bad people with guns and I say that the gun makers should go to jail when the guns kill people

So when your car kills someone, the head honcho from the factory should be thrown in jail? Don't think that will "fly".-:)

Fussy bastards!
