Well, it sure beats a less favourable experience I had regarding those three letters a number of years back.8O
Inside these people must really feel good about themselves. This is not about Albertans its
about people who are basically ignorant. Do we know they were from Alberta? No because
we only know they drove a certain kind of vehicle.
I do not like racists no matter where they come from, I also feel a little sorry for them and you
might think that odd.
Actually racism in not about feeling superior, its about being afraid of others and therefore they
don't feel as good as those they condemn. It is sad because those who hate limit their view of
themselves, of others and their views of the world. Intolerable yes, but sad in that people who
know little hate others instead of learning something about them.

Maybe, you were very lucky.. or because you are both Canadian you don't see it the same.. remember I have lived in the southern USA for most of my life and you see and hear it.. when I return to Canada, I see the same looks and reactions from Canadian as I do from Americans regarding aboriginals, immigrants and so on
Hey, I would bitch if the indians were stopping improvement in my area and not because I'm racist but because some dumb f*cks think they can hold the majority hostage and stand in the way of progress. I say they get 2 choices, get on board or get out of the way. These idiots don't realize how many people they affect. I lost about $25,000 in business when the indians blockaded the road to Apex Ski resort, could have used that fancy hummer then, the bush bar wouldn't have felt a thing...

Racism is not a 'white' thing! There is much racism towards whites from other races (go walk down the block in Compton or South Central or Detroit) and especially from governments. Name me one special program for your average white male....there aren't any. Indians have a whole ministry to themselves along with the whole separate nation bullsh*t, women have special rights & privilidges, immigrants get special treatment and refugees...well refugees get three times the amount of your average CPP recipient in grants and welfare and I call it all BS!
Now I treat every individual based upon their own merits and interaction with me regardless of race or heritage so having some ex-redneck conservative who now hails from the deep south say racism is a white thing is a joke.
Boomer was a bit misleading about the highway issue. But then if his source of info was the racists at the shell, its not surprising. The tribe simply kept trying to negotiate for more than the relocation costs were worth, and negotiations kept bogging down. The whole issue resolved when the gov decided to move the highway altogether and avoid the reserve entirely, and the tribe caved and accepted the last offer. They didnt do any different than all the other people who lived along the highway and had to move for the twinning. Evryone fought to get the best relocation deal possible.

I guess in Canada it's not so much Racism as it is Bigotry.. It's o.k. if you spend your money in my shop, I'm just not going to sit at the same table and break bread with you, "attitude" in Canada.
The native Indians spend lots of money in Valleyview, but I am sure from what I hear.. there is an underlying resentment towards them, nonetheless, a bigotry.
I'm not trying to play the holier-than-thou card personally.. I will admit to having a serious animosity towards Muslims. Not because of their color, strictly because of their backward religion and their hate for the western society.
Now if you watched the under cover Youtube News video.. you can see this is a problem, regardless of how people want to paint it and try to make it go away.. and make claims that there is no Racism in Canada or Alberta specifically.

Most towns bordering reserves have bigotry issues like that. There ha e been numerous times that groups between the sturgeon lake band and valleyview, ha e clashed to the point of gang warfare due to racism on both sides. If youve ever been jumped, or cornered in an alley, it gets hard not to develop fear. And again, that goes both ways.
I was raised in Cornwall.. sorry didn't see it.. My best friend that I grew up with was Native Indian.. many a time I crashed at their home.

Take a look at Texas, most people in general are very accepting of the Hispanic population, now take at North Carolina where they are seeing an insurgence of Hispanics and most people living their are white.

Yeah? He lived on the rez? I know it's hard to explain thoroughly in the limited time and space of a forum discussion, but, its segregation thats at issue. The natives who lived in town, versus the natives who lived on the reserve.... totally different social dynamic.

You keep making reference to racism as a white issue. I spent 20 years in the Cowichan Valley where 50% of the population is Indian, some are just as racist toward the white population as any white is to them. Visit Scott Rd in Delta and go into one of the Hindu/Sikh stores and try to get served, go to Compton one day and walk down the street with your blonde hair & lily white skin and see what kind of racism you receive, go to Australia and meet a few aborigines and learn what they think of the white folk. Racism is prevalent everywhere whether is is majority against minority or minority against majority.
