Well it looks like BamBam has pulled it off. He will win Florida and Ohio and that is all she wrote. In fact by winning Florida he makes it all but impossible for Mittens to win.

Please don't let this be a 'Dewey beats Truman' thread.8O
he never pulled anything off....the only thing that got pulled was the wool over peoples eyes...... somehow obamy won the election weeks ago according to ............

Oh Oh, the whine and cheese party has started with the republican supporters.

This election was won by a policy of inclusion and supporting American jobs instead of the elitist republicans shipping the economy overseas.

CNN is say'n 169 to Obama's 157 at this point. Maybe they're somewhat slow though.

I was watching that and listening them say how tough it was going to be for Romney. I was wondering why until I remembered that California would go Obama and had like 55 votes. I also realized that rural republican votes are counted quicker than urban democrat votes.

I think CNN called Ohio too soon. They kept saying there were no more republican votes as the lead kept shrinking and shrinking. They stuck too it even when Romney slipped ahead briefly. But by that point Ohio didn't really matter any more so I went to bed.

I am glad it worked out this way but I felt it would have gone the other way.

At this stage it doesn't matter much who wins. it will increasingly become less of an ideological issue and a practical one. Soon enough, all sides will simply have to agree to tax and axe, no sacred cows allowed. Goodbye low US taxes. Goodbye most powerful military in the world. Goodbye wor'ds policeman, etc. Now is time to retrench and rejuvenate the country, and that means tax and axe, end of story.

No. Obama'a record is horrendous. The election was lost by the Republicans because nutters have control of the party. It's a sad day for the US when the only option is between horrible and unthinkable.

Yup. Honestly, had I been a US citizen, I would likely have handed in a blank ballot or just written in the name of someone I thought could do a better job. Spoilt ballot either way I suppose.

The pres might end up creating jobs in a very unexpected way: by beating the currency to little value, making the US competitive because of dirt-cheap labour owing to a weaker dollar. The new China?

when someone is the victor, it is the lowest and most childish thing to say -" I hope he fails ", just
shows the true lack of spirit, and a person who has no interest in moving forward, but is just pouting
and sulking and being, as we call it, a sore loser.

I certainly didn't want romney to win, but had he, he would have received my congratulations and the
wish for he and his government to move forward and get things done, that is what life is all about,
get up on one's feet and progress, obviously you have now given up.

You might as well jump off a bridge, there is no hope for you.

Obama's speech was inspiring and shows his genuine desire to do just that, move forward.

'Congratulations to Obama, in spite of the failing economy, the people still saw
him as a strong president who will improve his presidency and the economy, he
had a big hill to climb, it was in poor shape when he took over, so now he has
another 4 years. What had to be done couldn't be done in one term, now he can
move the country forward.

You said it well, Talloola. I thought both Obama's and Romney's speeches were very good.

Anyone know why Fla. hasn't been declared with Obama having a 46000 vote lead?

Why? Opinion is guided by experience. Experience tells us that cooperation is no longer part of American political culture.

The Democrats were unable to coordinate cooperation amongst themselves during Obama's first 2 years of tenure. I expect that there will be a similar dynamic in place this time

Just exactly what part of his agenda are you opposed to? The part that gives universal healthcare? The part that actually looks after vets? The part that raises taxes on those making over $250k/yr? The part that ends illegal wars and brings troops home saving billions?

We've been over this Nick in terms of the effect of the higher taxes on corps and their response... The bigs look at alternative locations (Haliburton) and the small and med sizes look for efficiencies that translate into fewer quality jobs (ie. small employers are offering more part-time positions that eliminate employer costs like Obamacare).

You do the math on what that effect will have on the middle and lower income earners

The election is over and it is time to move forward and make the economy and everyone's lives better. It is called being socially responsible even for a constitutionalist like me.

Hopefully, that's what happens. although I'm not holding my breath

Canadian Prime Minister Stephan Harper said that Mitt Romney would be better for Canada.

Re-elected American President Obama said this to Harper

Corporations that choose money over the welfare of the nation, the people and the environment can move over seas. Good riddance! We don't need them. Its we the people that make a nation strong and create jobs. I hope traitor corporations move their operations overseas. I hope their CEOs move with them where they can to breathe the polluted air and hide in their walled fearing the desperate people on the other side. We'll rebuild the factories, recreate the jobs and out compete them as they fight political upheaval which comes from making the wealthy wealthier at the expense of making the poor poorer.

I can't see how getting the XL pipeline up and running can hurt the economy, Walter and you can bet your booties, Obama will now approve it.

Means Northern Gateway is probably dead. This will make us more dependent on a fickle American market rather than expanding our customer base.

I totally agree with you. It also means that we will be exploiting our resources more slowly, meaning we're more likely to have some resources left in a thousand years from now.
