People break contracts with the gvt everyday, including infrastructure projects. Someone else comes into fill the void and the work gets completed.
And there's usually a penalty for breaking the contract.

Contrary to some, contracts are not sacred.
No they aren't. But there can be ramifications for breaking them.

I didn't realize taxes were levied according to race!
They aren't. It's based on heredity.

This idea of a separate nation that gets the entirety of funding for anything from Canada and its taxpayers is ludicrous.
There was a trade. The Natives got screwed, and the Europeans got to reap the rewards of the new land.

It's hardly mature to get ones balls in a knot, now that the tables are turning.

Why shouldn't we stop their citizenship from growing? Since we pay for every one of their citizens it is in our best interest to minimize the number of people we have to support.
Wow!

You are some kind of crazy.

Our laws should usurp theirs.
They do, lol.

It happens in the WWE all the time.
Ya, there's an organization to base a value system on.

It explains a lot about why you make such idiotic posts.

You mean there's a break that spoilt rotten slack assed whining seniors get that you don't know about. In B.C. we enjoy about a 25% reduction on our property taxes. (But it's not worth moving here for)

Another crock from the peanut gallery!

I'm betting that in Vancouver that 25% is a fair chunk of change. It adds up to a fair amount around my area as taxes inside the village are high and because it is a nice area for the idle rich to retire to and house prices are way out of line with reality although still lower than what they sold their Toronto and Vancouver houses for.

HEy Canuck: Did you know that seniors ride on the ferries for free mid week?

That 25% was just a figure I pulled out of my head for my own tax situation. I think the actual dollar amount might be the same whatever your tax is! Watch you don't get Cannuck too upset, lest he has an attack of apoplexy (stroke for us common folks)

I'd have to dig out a property tax notice to be sure but I think it is actually a fixed dollar figure not a percentage of taxes.

Yep, I'm pretty sure is a fixed amount not a percentage.

Yep, the old coots ride for free mid-week but still have to pay for their vehicles. That is why when I was living there my old man would only visit during the week and made me pick him up and drop him off at Duke point.

It happens in the WWE all the time. It is a fight after all.

I bought all 3 of my homes, people pay me rent. I trust a judge as much as I trust their politician bosses.

Right. But did you buy them on stolen property? Just asking. And if it turned out you had, would that make a difference to you?

Or let's say someone stole your property and then sold it to someone else, and bought the judge too. Then what?

WE can go round in circles about "stolen' land all you want. Lands have changed ownership through invasion and war and revolution for 1000s of years and nobody seems to get it handed back except the Indians and they got extra benefits to go with it.

For example, my family tree goes back into the 1300s in France. We know where the huge 1500+ acre estate and 50 room chateau are located that used to be the family home. Come the revolution my ancestors had 2 choices, get out of France or die, so they left. Following the example of Canada and the Indians I should get my castle back and have the French govt pay for all my needs and those of my heirs for at least a few hundred years. Now I know that ain't going to happen because the idea is ludicrous and the French people and govt would never allow it.

Let us also think about Britain. That island has been invaded and conquered so many times it is hard to tell who the hell was really there first. I say the Picts and Druids but who really knows. Are we going to start allowing land claims against Britain or any other European country that has changed hands numerous times over the last few centuries. Asia is no different. It's borders have moved and countries been conquered over & over for 5000 years or more.

My point is ALL lands on this planet were 'stolen' at some time or another so how do you propose we deal with it? Go back to the beginning of written history and restore every region to the original occupants? Good luck with that because it would start a world war.

In most cases, there either are no contracts, or the contracts were heavily on the side of the government, and the First nations feel they were exploited into signing the contracts.

There are very few cases where the government is not honoring a contract that they signed.

Again, the Indians weren't conquered. They got kneed in the nuts while the government wqas shaking their hands. We signed the contract so we're stuck with it.

Sucks to be them. Not like it's the first time in history something like that has happened.
