All that rhetoric flies out the window with the next car bombing in Islamabad.

Discourages the killing of women....discourages... oh what strong words!

Most of the group issuing the Fatwa have been Taliban supporters in the past. This the first time they've issued a statement critical of the Taliban. That is a change.

You're kidding, right? You throw this out in this thread? You really need to put your brain in gear before you post.

No I'm not kidding, multiple murder, of women as young and younger, occurs every other day in the Islamic homelands and it is committed by hideously evil drone jockeys who draw their pay from your masters and mine. You're objecting to the truth, the facts the hand on the trigger. If you think that Islamic terror can ever eclipse the terror inflicted by gold you're simply wrong and misguided because of it. Pray she lives to fight another day, pray she isn't helped by the vaunted NATO forces for good.

I think the line people are drawing beaver, the difference they see that you're failing to, is intent to actually kill this specific person. Yes, drone attacks need discussion. But, they don't quite compare, on a visceral level, with hunting down a specific child, and shooting her in the head.

The drone targets are clearly specified as relatives of the previous days drone attacks in very many instances. They are all specific persons. Don't try to convince me that the OP wasn't just another base attack on the classic demonized other. Western media love to pick one tragic stupid murder with a face and a story to support their fiction of liberal compassionate democratization of the whole Muslim world. The tragedy of one in no way eclipses the tragedy of the many except in the machinations of the media scum. Every one of the dead wood gathering women killed in Afghanistan by drones is exactly the same tragic act, this one just convieniently has a face and a story. Who did it? How many times is it some other unseen hand? Who are the Taliban? In Afghanistan gathering wood is sometimes seen as armed aggression.

Pakistan is a complicated country. Devout Muslim girl is almost murdered because she wants an education and the government defends her. Assorted people allegedly insult Islam and some government members offer rewards for their murder while those who defend free speech live under the threat of assassination.

Credit where credit is due, but let's not forget how ****ed up Pakistan really is.

Latest news is that Malala Yousafzai's condition has improved. It sounds like she will live. The extent of her injuries remain unknown, although she did move her hand...

The two men who committed this crime have been identified.

If Malala lives, she will probably be rehabilitated in Germany, which has offered assistance.
Malala's attackers identified: Rehman Malik

Right, more or less the exact point I was making, she will be rehabilitated in Germany while literally millions of others live shattered lives in total media darkness. I'm waiting for some group of idiots to donate a container of teddy bears. Little theatre pieces like this have been regularly substituted for care and compassion for decades while the crimes continue unabated. Feel good if you must, if it allows you to sooth the conscience, if you have one. And then there is the question of who benefits. Remember, expertise in terrorism belongs to the rich and powerful almost exclusively, kilo to kilo, coin to coin, the peasant terrorist hardly registers.

There's no need for the Taliban to invent propaganda against the American and Pakistan state (although they do) – both governments supply an excess of recruitment material for those who hate them. So if you view the Taliban simply through the prism of the war on terror and Pakistan and the United States, it's possible to think the process can be reversed; policies can be changed; everyone can stop being murderous and duplicitous.

But then there's Malala Yousafzai, standing in for all the women attacked, oppressed, condemned by the Taliban. What role have women played in creating the Taliban? Which of their failures is tied to the Taliban's strength? What grave responsibility, what terrible guilt do they carry around which explains the reprisals against them?

Is there anything more cowardly than a group of so called "men", stalking and shooting a fourteen year old girl who
voiced different beliefs?

POST OF THE YEAR!

I had a heart palpitation upon seeing the news of that vicious and shocking attack. Honestly, my blood pressure went up and had to take a dosage of my medicine.

How these stupid animals can do such a thing to that child is beyond all human comprehension. The Bible and Koran both teach a life for a life. Hopefully, there will soon be Divine Justice for them.

The people that did this are extremists and do not represent mainstream Islam. While some Muslim sects oppose female education, mainstream Islam considers "the acquisition of knowledge is obligatory for women in the same way as in the case of men".
Women and Education in Islam - Minhaj-ul-Quran International

For some to think that the Taliban represent Islam is like saying Der Sturmer represents all Republicans.

This young ladies problems may be the final straw on the camels back.
People are outraged including clerics of the Muslim faith. Maybe just
maybe more and more people will come forward in the Muslim World
and demand something be done about the Taliban. Women and men
are disgusted by the action. The news tonight showed growing crowds
speaking out against these monsters and perhaps they will keep the
pressure on

Because it will do nothing. Stick around for the next story of a woman to receive an acid splash in her face because she was too proud.

Too proud, or too Shia. I'm waiting for the outrage on this story. Looks like the camel can handle a few more straws after all.

She told a doctor at the Agency Headquarters Hospital (AHQ) in Parachinar that they were returning from the Kohat University to their native areas after appearing in viva exams for their masters class. As they neared Durrani area in lower Kurram, militants intercepted their vehicle and opened fire at them. They then threw acid on the students.

Do you have a date for that incident referenced by your Islamaphobic hate site?

Nearly all clerics in Pakistan expressed condemnation and outrage over this attack during Friday prayers:
Pakistani clerics add voices to chorus of condemnation against girl’s attackers - The Washington Post

Police has started arresting people in connection to the shooting. The gunman have been identified but remain at large.

The Taliban have restated that they will continue to try to kill Malala Yousafzai and her father, despite universal condemnation by every Pakistani political and religious authority, including those normally supportive of Taliban actions.
