The Graphic Designer they interviewed obviously has no clue on why the designed their new logo the way they did.
I'm guessing he hasn't used a Windows 7 Phone, nor has he even seen the new Windows 8 OS that's coming??
I have a Windows 7 phone and love it.... I'm also a Graphic Designer (among many other things) with over a decade of experience.... and their logo fits and works in representing exactly what they are bringing their customers, while at the same time still connecting to their previous corporate identity. From using the Windows 7 Phone for the last two months, I like it a lot and I'm looking forward to the Windows 8 OS which is heavily based off of the Phone's OS layout.

Some people didn't like the new Pepsi logo.... sh*t happens.
To say that Microsoft made a "Gaffe" with their logo based on one guy's opinion who runs a "Do it Yourself" Logo Web Site, isn't very accurate.
