The military is included in emergency aid when the provinces ask for it.

By the looks of it they could have used some help.
This is like when highway #3 into B.C. washed out, there was all kinds of equipment around with 5 big mines in the valley but the B.C. govt. hired a contractor that dogged the whole project, one lane into B.C for allmost a year. No sandbagging was done beforehand either.

New pics.
The temporary highway bridge going in. With any luck the highway will open sometime Sunday.

The first of 90 vehicles to be extracted

Been following it, bloody horrible! Those poor folks!
Now and then the jetstream takes a different route and throws weather all out of kilter. We have been experiencing Siberian Lows dropping into southwest and central BC in spring/summer the past two years that normally don't make it this far. There is always a danger of certain conditions coming together at just the wrong time like happened on the Fraser river in 1948, i was a tyke but remember being told my Dad was going out sandbagging with the military.
Too bad our records do not go back far enough to predict, or maybe we could not anyway?

Torrential rains today saturating the already soggy ground. More expected tomorrow. Things could get dicey around here.

a small but flourishing industry smashed to the ground, most of this didnt even make the 6 o clock local news.
Still lots of dope being grown-as it has been for the past 30 years-locals are well cashed up and this is just a blip on the screen.

I had CTV on all day and saw nothing on this,I have a few friends up there camping and they are sending pics back on FB via their phones tonight and there's lots of damage.People were useing canoes to get to their homes.
All that was on Canadian news today was forest fires in the states and how hot it is down there along with a few storms that shut the power off in a lot of places.

Look at the pictures,that,s news.

This pic is about an hour old.

2 minutes before the Canada parade started, a torrential down pour began. Been raining ever since. The crowds are all out there getting soaked anyway.

You seen anything on the news about the flooding?

I guess there was a "blurb" on the news last night.

Last night, on the 11 o'clock news. There was a lady on, talking about that business were open, that they didn't want the tourists to stay away, that they only have 6 weeks to make enough money to get them through the winter
