Related to the tax thing,in the 1990s there was this report on us tv that the IRS apparently busted doors on some occasions and pointed guns in the faces of the people living there, including kids, the agents acted like they were busting evil gangsters or terrorists,in one of these cases it was after the call from some bitch who stole from her employer, who caught her,and while he contacted the cops, she called the IRS and created a bullsh*t story.

As for taxes the place where people are screwed is quebec.

Does Oregon still have no State sales tax?

After I posted I got to thinking it's been 6 or 7 years since I was last in Oregon, so really have no current information on any of it, but yeah, no sales tax last I was there and also no self serve gas (for the good reason it creates employment and reduces fire insurance premiums for gas station owners)

Exactly, and we're told by some that, its a great place to live, and we better stay here cause its impossible to live outside of quebec.

I've never lived in Que, but have traveled there and enjoyed it immensely. That said, I can see it being a great place to live for many reasons, but the tax rates are very high and that is prohibitive for many people that are in the prime of their income earning years and are looking at mitigating their taxes with an eye towards retiring or saving cash.

WGAF what the tax is called or who imposes it, if you have to pay it?

Because captain morgan is implying that a state/provincial tax necessarily excludes that same person from paying a federal tax. That is not the case. Nor is it the case that out of all working members, 47% of do not pay federal tax. The full quote from the tax policy center, as I already mentioned is that 47% of single-filer tax payers in 2009 paid federal tax.

That's a stark contrast to the implication that 47% of Americans currently pay federal taxes.

But you know, if we cut out certain words from a sentence, then captain morgan is in no way correct on this issue.

The numbers are the numbers, as posted by the US Tax dept, look it up Flossy. They ain't my words, and unlike yourself, I don't apply a subjective interpretation to the scenario.

Why file combined if you don't get any credits?

I don't know if they allow for split income in the States, but if they do, it makes Flossy's position even more tenuous.

For what? Your mistakes? No wonder OWS rage against ****. They don't understand it. It's like watching an old guy trying to figure out the cable remote.
