Hate to burst your bubble, but the United States does NOT have the largest military in the world. That is China, closely followed by Russia.

If you are going to rant, it helps if you actually know what you are talking about.

How many Russki or Chinese Carrier Groups have you seen off our shores...and for that matter who has so many military bases ALL OVER THE GLOBE.

The US has the most capable military in the world and spends a ridiculous amount to maintain this insane notion it's on top of it all.

What does that have to do with the size of countries' militaries?

First of all, Obama is not as left of center as one thinks, he's been painted left
by those on the right, but in fact he is not that left at all. Obama is popular in
this country because people don't like the Republican agenda and believe it is
really being run by the Tea Party. That is not quite the case, it is influenced by
the Tea Party and has had it image tarnished by the Tea Party. Romney is in
the unenviable position of being forced to the right even further by the rebellious
right, who believe they have all the instant solutions to the problems of the
country.
Many forget, Obama inherited a giant pile of financial dung left behind by the
Bush Administration, seven and a half years of it to be sure, and it takes a long
time to bring back a measure of health and even longer to re-establish a full
measure of confidence. Obama is in a tough fight for re-election but I believe
people will chose him over Romney in the end. The difference won't come
down to who they like best, The reason they will support the President holding
their nose in some cases is because the Tea Party is behind door number three
in their minds, and the Tea Party no longer inspires confidence in the minds of
American voters. The second group that will come forward and support the
President? The Middle Class Voters who want to maintain the Medicare Benefits
they have achieved. No they are not adequate, and no they are not what was
promised, but its better than losing what they have achieved. Even if the
Republicans make the claim they won't scrap it the average voter does not
believe them.

Military capability isn't about who has the most men, it's about who can project power the best. which nation even comes close to projecting power on a global scale the way the US can with CVBGs, long range bombers, Marine Expeditionary Forces and more.

It's moronic when you consider that globally over 1 trillion dollars get spent on militaries while at the same time globalization has brought us closer than ever before. The Chinese are supposed to be the next big threat or maybe the Russians...but our economies are so intertwinned now that any global conflict would crash everything and is highly unlikely. But the US just keeps spending hundreds of millions a year on "defence" while digging ever deeper in debt.

The US has also shipped off much of its technology base and can't even make some of the weapons systems it uses at home. If there ever was a war with China, how do you think they'd react to a request from the US for the type of magnets used in smart bombs which aren't even made in the US anymore.

The US has become a fantasy land, and the military-industrial complex is a big part of the problem...Ike was right. It doesn't matter who gets elected, Americans have even less freedom now than we do and that's saying a lot.

yep, and even if the republicans did get elected next time, they also would have
to continue climbing out of the pile of financial dung left by bushy, it will
take a long time.
I'm sure bushy was glad obama won the election, because instantly obama is blamed
for what 'he' left him.

No way Tall... this is Obama's mess now. What a disaster he will leave behind if he loses and the GOP will have to clean up his mess.

Just look at the debt Obama tacked on!

But you did say largest military did you not?

Regardless... thanks for the props to our MEUs!

To our american members.

Do you think Obama will win this years elections,or will the people vote him out?

I think Obama is fairly safe, now if young Jeb Bush was running as the Republican, Obama might have his work cut out for him!

I tend to agree with you Eagle Smack- Bush wasn't quite the reprobate many make him out to be but once a sentiment gets legs it tends to spread like wild fire. I think many resented Bush because he wouldn't take any sh*t from anybody. But, regardless, Obama or Bush or Romney, they all have their advisors and end up doing what they are told anyway!

Probably not as much as you think. Politicians are all much the same, very few of them are very bright. Some try a little harder than others I suppose. I think the biggest difference is some will make decisions, some won't. Young Jeb has probably learned a lot from his Daddy and his brother. Even he might think they are both a couple of A$$holes! LOL

Really? That is kind of a stretch I'd say.

US Liberals are adult babies... that is all. They are spoiled and when they lose an election they cry like a bunch of infants. Just look at what is happeneing in Wisconsin today. When Bush beat Clinton's hand puppet Gore the libs couldn't believe it and would do nothing but hate Bush after.

In Canada, the spending spike is blamed on the recession.

In the U.S., the spending is blamed on the president.

Hmm... I wonder why.... HHMMMMmmmm..... ;)
