Only remaining superpower kind of sounds like the worlds largest military to me.

Like I said some nations may have more personnel, but no nation has the military capabilities of the US or spends as much...although Russia and China are starting to to try and keep up.

Fine, call it the world's last superpower if you want. The fact is it costs hundreds of billions a year, completely skews the political environment in the US- just in the way Eisenhower said it would- and probably creates more problems in the long term than it solves.

When it works the US system can move mountains. Right now it's plugged up by people and organizations who are killing it off rapidly, no nation can spend at the rate the US is without eventually collapsing.
