I am sure that is the answer. I want MF to own up to it though.
MF?
Own up to what?
Food security doesn't mean you have to starve.
No wonder the U.S. has such garbage standards.

I have an idea of where they can stuff that report. At least we can have some control where that money goes here in Canada unlike the developing nations where it is used to keep dictators plump.

What is unsecure about it?Food security doesn't mean you have to starve.
I'd wager that if you polled Canadians on that proposal, you'd see an overwhelming degree of support. Makes me wonder though how the UN would take that news, would they go on the offensive to attempt to shame Canada into funding them more (the UN), or would they learn their lesson and shut their collective pie-holes and leave well enough alone?
I read the article that MF posted. So the conclusion here is that many of the poor in Canada are unable to feed themselves adequately and are oft times going to bed hungry?
What a load. That is just like them saying poor in the US are starving and millions of children are going to bed hungry when studies show that our "poor" are the most obese of all classes.
Why doesn't Bono set himself up with a 100K a year trust, or better yet get a normal job based on his minimal education, sell off all his assets, and give everything away to the poor himself? We would be labelled as racists most likely and Bono would really hate us as he thinks it's our responsibility to remedy the worlds ills.

I've asked my self the same thing. His ego might have something to do with it.
There are deaths from food inadequate; starvation if you will and the insubstantial nature of the food that the poor have to eat.
Deaths from actual starvation are probably not too many but they do happen.
The number is probably incalculable since many poorer people who might well be considered food deprived, if not actually starving, die fromother related problems. Like heart or diabetic problems brought on by poor diet and hunger.
Where the middle classes have fruit and vegetables and fruit juices, the poor have ground beef and sweet soda drinks. They cannot afford a healthy diet. The greater rate of obesity is no mystery and has been written about by many organisations and researchers.
Incidentally, I recall reading some years ago that the number who died of starvation in the USA was in the hundreds - low hundreds if I recall correctly.
Right.
But apparently some believe that our standard should be starvation.
Groups call for Canada-wide policy on food security
How many people die of starvation in Canada.
I just want clarification on the question as I have no idea how many die of hunger.
I already told you I don't know.
Petros had the answer... ZERO.
Except for the rare psycho parent(s) that starve their child or elderly parent through neglect alone.
Oooooo.... touchy today are you?
lol.
