200lbs of beer and Pepsi fat because basic foods were free.

Yes indeed. And there is no restriction on what foods they buy with food stamps here. None. So they can browse the food bank, then take their EBT cards to the super market and shop away.

A better question - what would be an acceptable amount of Canadians dying each year of starvation?

That is not a better question at all. It certainly is avoiding the better question.

I'll ask again.

How many Canadians die each year from starvation?

As a "pea soup" (no offence intended) you know full well that super cheap legumes can meet all your protein needs without any meat. Eating good food is by far the cheapest food because it's not in demand like crap food is. I know damn well that if the **** ever hits the fan and I have to do what it takes I'm going to be eating buckwheat (millet) cabbage rolls to give me the enegy I need to work without eating meat. Carbs and fat are easy to come by, proteins are what matter.

If we are truly spending billions on food for developing nations, I propose we cease that and use it to feed our poor.

I just want clarification on the question as I have no idea how many die of hunger.

I dunno DD.. A move like that may spark a damning report by the UN on Canada's overseas commitments.

I have an idea of where they can stuff that report. At least we can have some control where that money goes here in Canada unlike the developing nations where it is used to keep dictators plump.
